Democrats, including Gov.-elect Tony Evers and Attorney General-elect Josh Kaul, have urged him to veto the legislation on the grounds it undermines the will of the voters. Some Republicans, such as former Gov. Scott McCallum, have slammed the bills as a “power grab” that is poor policy.

.............Some of the most controversial parts of the legislation are those affecting the governor’s and attorney general’s powers. The bills would prevent the governor and attorney general from dropping out of lawsuits the state had entered into without the Legislature’s approval.

It would also give the Legislature the right to intervene in a case if a state statute is challenged in court and to appoint attorneys other than those from the Department of Justice........................

This is national news--A Repug Gov is taking away powers that he had (Walker had) now that we elected a Democrat as Gov and Attorney General.

One of the items is the fact that now the new Attorney General will have to legislature approval before he can withdraw from the national wide lawsuit. It will not happen as Wisconsin is very gerrymandered state.
