State lawmakers again trying to remove Trump name from park

Source: Associated Press

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Lawmakers in the Democrat-controlled New York Legislature are making another attempt to have President Donald Trump's name removed from a defunct state park.

Sen. Brad Hoylman, of Manhattan, and Assemblywoman Nily Rozic, of Queens, have introduced legislation that would allow the state parks commissioner to give Donald J. Trump State Park a different name.

In 2006, Trump donated undeveloped land straddling the Putnam-Westchester county border north of New York City to the state for a park. The park was one of dozens closed by the state four years later amid a budget crisis.

The park never reopened and isn't included on the state's official state park list.

No, no. I say set aside some of the Russiagate-related monetary penalties Cheeto will eventually have to pay to refurbish the park, and keep the Trump name on it.

Along with placards and a small visitor center with a video loop explaining how, exactly, this fiasco came about.

The one posted by RKP just above should do splendidly.

"During a 2015 visit by The Rachel Maddow Show there were no signs of any recent upkeep; instead, the publicly accessible land was found to contain crumbling graffiti-covered buildings, empty map kiosks, and weed-choked parking lots.

In 2017, website The A.V. Club published a report that the park was an "abandoned wasteland," with "muddy fields, overgrown tennis courts, and dilapidated buildings" and a swimming pool in disrepair.

Crumbling graffiti-covered buildings, empty map kiosks, weed-choked parking lots, an 'abandoned wasteland', muddy fields, overgrown tennis courts, dilapidated buildings and a swimming pool in disrepair, and it even has asbestos contamination in one area....sounds like it's almost a perfect venue to memorialize the motherfucker!

Well, maybe just one *slight * change in the name...

how about "Donald J. tRump Metaphor State Park". Has a nice ring to it!
