Lawyers: Manafort suffers from depression, anxiety

Source: Detroit News

Washington – Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort is suffering from depression and anxiety and is at times confined to a wheelchair because of gout.

That’s according to a court filing from defense lawyers Tuesday responding to allegations that Manafort has repeatedly lied to special counsel Robert Mueller’s team of investigators.

Manafort’s lawyers say he was awakened before dawn on the days he was interviewed and normally spent the entire day talking with investigators.

They say the circumstances of his confinement “weighed heavily on Mr. Manafort’s state of mind and on his memory” as he was questioned.

I'm depressed and anxiou too.....thanks to repubs I don't know if I'll be able to afford retirement. I'm a degreed professional and have been dutifully investing in my 401K the way I'm told I'm supposed to, yet now that my body is telling me it's time to retire I don't know whether I'll have healthcare and it looks like my 401K is going to be woefully inadequate. Welcome to the American dream under repub rule.

Paul Manafort. Don't confuse compassion with pity. But that does not mean that we think that Manafort can escape the consequences of his past actions. He was a very despicable person, who worked for tyrants for money. Justice is a virtue. But wouldn't it be nice if through studying Buddhism and practicing meditation that he saw the errors and harms of his past behavior, and then made a sincere personal commitment to work for the benefit and well-being of others? Being high-minded is always good for its own sake.

I need to watch my own path to my personal destiny.

I'm not gloating over what is coming to these people. But, I am not pitying them.

Yes, it would be beneficent for him and others to find the 'Light' because of their incarceration and separation from what was familiar.

Keeping all the lies straight is stressful.

Awakened before dawn: WTF?

Spent the entire day talking: WTF? That's the way he earned his money, by talking all day.

Confinement weighed heavily: Consider it training. He's going to be confined in far more stressful circumstances for a far longer period of time.

All the anxiety and depression the Trump administration has caused, "we, the people", is partly his fault, and as such he should suffer the same fate as, "we, the people". Fuck off, Manafort. I hope you die depressed and anxious in prison.

Manafort had no loyalty to anyone or anything other than his ambition for money and power, without any regard for how it affected the wider good other than himself. Much like who he served. That's why democracies are formed. Not to impose government on the people or because their smarter but to protect the people from cons and manipulators like him.
