Trump Storms Out of White House Meeting with Democrats on Shutdown

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Omaha Steve (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: NYTimes

WASHINGTON — President Trump slammed his hand on a table and stormed out of a White House meeting with congressional leaders on Wednesday after Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California said she would not fund a wall along the southern border, dramatically escalating the confrontation over the government shutdown.

Stunned Democrats emerged from the White House meeting declaring that Mr. Trump had thrown a “temper tantrum.” The president’s allies accused Democrats of refusing to negotiate. Then he tweeted that the meeting was “a total waste of time.”

A stream of republicans came on the air afterward and painted a completely different story. It was Pelosi and Schumer who were out of control and provoked Der Gropenfuhrer into his reaction. "Nancy and Chuck", as they're referred to by the criminal republicans, refused to discuss any other solutions to the shutdown, and are totally responsible for continuing the shutdown. The republicans are totally blameless, and the Democrats treatment of Der Gropenfuhrer is shameless and pitiful. Trump's heart of gold is being besmirched by those ruthless Democrats.

So there you have it. This is what will be playing on a continuous loop on FOX. It's all total bullshit, but we should all be aware of the new lies and distortions.

of complete republican control in Washington, and he did nothing about his precious wall. Only after Democrats kicked the GOP's ass in the mid-terms did this wall become a "crisis". He's had bills in front of him that only required his grandiose signature that provided more money than he's seeking now, but for some reason he refused to sign them. That's because they contained language about immigration reform, DACA, etc. that he doesn't want to happen either. He wants everything his way, without giving Democrats anything in return. He truly does think he's the supreme ruler of Trumpmerica. He loves the fight, not the wall. He just wants to keep his ugly mug on the TV cameras, show his "base" that he's in a dog-fight with Democrats, and wants to keep the attention on him, not Mueller, not his blatant criminality, and certainly not the fact that his support among republicans is slipping away.

As many more are starting to run from trump and this shutdown, and is why he's acting this way, because he knows he's losing it. trump is making the next election an even greater blue wave , and insures now the Senate and his position will be flipped over to the Democrats. trumps losing it all for the republicans now, him and putin. Every day this trump and republican shutdown continues only means more positions will be lost to the Democrats in 2020. trumps helping this too.

Wed Jan 9, 2019, 07:48 PM
Jan 2019

This behavior is typical of Trump. Several NYC journalists have followed and reported on Trump for years, the cheif among the eing David Cay Johnston. They all describe a "negotiating" tactic Trump likes to use:

-- First, make a demand he knows the other side will not accept
-- Second, when the other side refuses, Trump shouts, screams, throws a tantrum, storms out of the room
-- A few days later, he calls everyone and says, well, okay, we'll do it your way

In the late 1980's Trump as hundreds of millions in debt and was not making payments. All the major banks met with him and told him he would get no more loans from them. Also, they forced him to turn over much of his assets to them. He accepted the deal meekly, according to people in the know. He realized the banks were more powerful than he.

Now, he's learning that Pelosi and Schumer have their own power base and they have no need for his approval.

Let's hope they hold tough -- he'll fold like a cheap suit in a few days. Bullies always do.

Meanwhile, here's secret video of Trump's reaction during the Trump-Pelosi-Schumer meeting.

They do have the right to negotiate - as they seem to be trying to do, but there is NO negotiating on the wall.
