Trump's ex-lawyer Michael Cohen will testify at House Oversight Committee before entering prison
Source: CNBC
Michael Cohen, the former personal lawyer and fixer for President Donald Trump, has agreed to testify before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee in February -- a month before beginning to serve a three-year prison sentence for a range of crimes which include ones related to Trump.
Cohen's planned Feb. 7 appearance is voluntary. He said Thursday it will give him the opportunity "to give a full and credible acount of the events that have transpired."
The hearing will come two-and-a-half months months after he pleaded guilty to lying to Congress in 2017 about details of an aborted Trump real-estate project in Moscow, Russia.
Last week, the House of Representatives and its committees came under the control of the new Democratic majority, which has vowed to use its power to investigate a range of controversies involving the Republican Trump and his administration.

MICHAEL COHEN, President Trump's former fixer and personal attorney, will testify in PUBLIC before House Oversight on Feb. 7. Expect questions about his involvement in hush money scheme to silence Trump affairs, the Trump Tower Moscow project in 2016 and other controversies.

(11,885 posts)Of willing people who'll testify against trump and all the others involved before the House , and for the public to hear. trump will be damaged goods for donors , and voters, and other Congressional republicans . He has to know now his downfall is in the near future, and he can't stop it. Is he only sticking around now to raise funds for his legal bills?

(67,782 posts)In a statement to CNN, Cohen said he agreed to testify "in furtherance of my commitment to cooperate and provide the American people with answers."
"I look forward to having the privilege of being afforded a platform with which to give a full and credible account of the events which have transpired," Cohen said.

(7,142 posts)This is OJ Simpson trial stuff. Trump being humiliated, brought down in publc. Trump has to be sick right now. Cohens testimony can be used for impeachment. I suggest Trump have a nervous breakdown.
I think Trumps been offshoring Trump Organization money. He apparently hasnt been paying suppliers. I think he got that $1billion brokerage fee for Putins sale of 19% of Rosneft to Qatar. I think Mueller will let him and his family leave the country if they do so quietly.

(6,908 posts)Trump will see jail before Cohen. But Trump will resign before jail with a plea deal, Cohen will go free. The countdown to February 7th begins..
A man can dream, can't I? And if two people dream. And then three, and then four. But in the beginning, I gotta believe it could happen. It's plausible though not likely. But not impossible either.

(51,569 posts)Thank you Cohen! The fucking moron is shutting bricks right now and will be making dangerous distractions now due to it. Duck and cover. This will be like John Dean and Nixon. The Dems Congress is doing a great job right out of the gate. They don't need to wait for Mueller's report to finish and be released to turn the public against him. Seeing Cohen, hearing new info that no one has heard before and knowing that tRump knew about Russia and was working with them is like an early Christmas, birthday, July 4th, etc for the country as a whole.

(67,782 posts)...that trump and republicans will claim he's a convicted liar, etc., but expect that Cohen will point out that he lied on behalf of trump as his lawyer.
Calling him a liar could backfire.
