Michael Cohen's Senate testimony delayed

Source: Politico

Congress is now 0 for 3 in trying to bring in Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former lawyer, for testimony before he is scheduled to report to federal prison in early March.

The latest panel to come up short in landing Trump’s longtime fixer is the Senate Intelligence Committee, which had issued a subpoena to get closed-door testimony from Cohen on Tuesday.

In a statement on Monday, Cohen’s lawyer Lanny Davis said the Senate panel investigating Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election had accepted his client’s request for a delay “due to post-surgery medical needs.”

“A future date will be announced by the committee,” Davis added. Cohen had surgery on his shoulder in January as he prepares to report to federal prison March 6 to begin a three-year sentence for tax fraud and lying to Congress.

1. I hope they don't re-postpone his Feb 28th date to testify before House Intel Comm

Too bad it's slated to be behind closed doors too (if it happens at all) - will be calling my congress person to request that it be made public

Senate Intel chairman: No ‘goodwill’ left for Michael Cohen

2/12/2019

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr (R-N.C.) had harsh words for President Donald Trump's former lawyer, Michael Cohen, for postponing Tuesday’s scheduled closed-door meeting with senators.

"Any goodwill that might have existed in the committee with Michael Cohen is now gone," Burr told reporters on Capitol Hill.

Cohen was slated to meet with committee members on Tuesday after he was subpoenaed last month to testify in the panel’s investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

But on Monday his lawyer, Lanny Davis, requested a delay, citing medical reasons after a recent surgery.

Burr took issue with that characterization.
