US officials say attack in Libya may have been planned
Source: RT
Officials within the Obama administration have reportedly said the deadly attack on the US consulate in the Libyan city of Benghazi, which killed ambassador Chris Stevens, was planned in advance.
Both the New York Times and CNN are quoting sources within the administration as saying the attack on the consulate was planned.
CNN's source claimed "Tuesday's attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, was planned in advance, and the attackers used the protest outside the consulate as a diversion".
Some media reports have also suggested 'Innocence of Muslims', the scandalous film that many blame for sparking the protest, was used as a pretext for the attacks on US embassies in Libya and Cairo.

(13,184 posts)It seems much more likely that this was Sunni jihadists, who are known to hang out in Benghazi ever since we helped them liberate it.

(950 posts)I just was pointing out to the other poster that have been know to you know attack American embassy's and since now its sounding like it was planned out, I am not going to rule them out until I have some hard evidence.

(15,882 posts)that could also be true of Israeli commandos, if they are just throwing open the universe of possibilities, though blaming terrorists sure fits with the scaredy meme of the day. Sam Bacile (the director) is an Israeli citizen with family in Egypt, so this likely wasn't some big secret. Plenty of planning time, Even by the movie makers to prove their point, or by a country wanting to start a shooting war with Muslims, or by a corporation knowing that they will profit regardless of who is hurt (see: Mi$$ Rmoney)..
There are, in fact, several organizations and governments capable of striking this fast to start something else, including several U.S. corporations, all of which might well think they could profit or gain from something like this.

Have you tried to watch any of it? It's the most brain-dead piece of crap I have seen in a while...
I almost can't hardly believe this whole thing isn't a conspiracy. Really, all those people have youtube access, and then jump up and fire missiles into the compound? Because all Muslims have them in their closets? All while Israel has a few people who really seem to want a shooting war, preferably with Iran, knowing that will bring confrontations with the Palestinians.
We deal with angry crowds at embassies on a regular basis. Someone seems to have taken some trouble to go around that for a deadly effect. I don't believe it was the spontaneous action of offended Muslims to organize such an effort, in two waves.

It seems as present it may be opportunism by the Tripoli crowd against the Benghasi mob to both show them up and account for the fact that the deceased ambassador ran the US office in Benghasi during the conflict there.
