Origins of Provocative Video Are Shrouded

Source: NY Times

CAIRO — The amateurish video at the center of the violence in Libya and in Egypt opens with scenes of Egyptian security forces standing idle as Muslims pillage and burn the homes of Egyptian Christians. Then it cuts to cartoonish scenes depicting the Prophet Muhammad as a child of uncertain parentage, a buffoon, a womanizer, a homosexual, a child molester and a greedy, bloodthirsty thug.

The trailer was uploaded to YouTube by an individual whose identity was in question. Some news organizations carried interviews with someone who said he was the filmmaker and identified himself as Sam Bacile, an Israeli-American real estate developer in California, but there was no immediate confirmation in official records of such a person. In one report, he identified himself as 52 and in another, 56.

Yigal Palmor, the spokesman for the Israeli Foreign Ministry, said in a telephoned statement: “Nobody knows who he is. He is totally unknown in filmmaking circles in Israel. And anything he did — he is not doing it for Israel, or with Israel, or through Israel in any way.” Mr. Palmor also called the filmmaker “a complete loose cannon and an unspeakable idiot.”

It is unclear whether a full movie even exists. Executives at Hollywood agencies, including William Morris Endeavor, Creative Artists Agency and United Talent Agency, said they had never heard of “Innocence of Muslims,” either from a cast, crew or financing standpoint. Hollywood unions said they had no involvement or did not respond to queries. Casting directors did not recognize actors in the 14-minute YouTube video that purports to be a trailer for a longer film.

part of the plan and probably coordinated by Israeli intelligence. Netanyahu squawking about Iran at the same time was part of a coordinated effort to help Romney (who happens to be a former colleague of Netanyahu.

this is IMO domestic and besides there is already a kerfuffle coming out of Israel over Obama not meeting with Netanyahu where it seems that Israel's supporters or some of them claim that the POTUS snubbed Bibi and the White House says there was no request for a meeting from Israel that too was yesterday but got lost in the Libya/Egypt movie incident

It only started getting attention when it was dubbed in Arabic and the Egyptian media began airing it.

that he is evangelical...Makes sense.

Put the pieces of the puzzle together....

Neocons wanting to have a war with Iran, speaking out in recent days ,for example Joe Bolton.

STories that Obama won't meet with Netayahoo for Israel....that seems to be a false story now.

Stories that the maker of the movie is Israeli American...now Israel saying he is not a citizen. It is now looking like he is no an a jewish American either.

Klein also tells Goldberg that he doubts "Bacile" is Jewish, and that the claims he is were a "disinformation campaign." He added, about the people involved in the film, "Some are Copts but the vast majority are Evangelical.

This is exactly the kind of shit Terry Jones would do: make a crappy short film depicting the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as some sort of deviated prevert, throw it up on YouTube, wait till the Middle East explodes in chaos because of it, then stand up and say, "See? It's NOT a religion of peace! I told ya!" And I note he was promoting the thing, at least until Ambassador Stephens got killed--something he probably wasn't counting on. You will note he's been REAL quiet since Ambassador Stephens died.
