Tony Perkins (Family Research Council President): I Don't Think Obama Sympathizes With Attackers

Source: Huffington Post

WASHINGTON -- Family Research Council President Tony Perkins disagreed on Wednesday with assessments by GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney and Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus, who both said that the Obama administration sympathized with the attackers on U.S. facilities in the Middle East.

"I don't think the president sympathizes with those who perpetrated these attacks against Americans," said Perkins during an appearance at the National Press Club.

He also placed some of the blame for the attacks at Obama's doorstep, saying, "These are some of the same folks that were empowered by our actions recently in Libya, which were not approved by Congress. And we are now seeing that we are putting in place in certain parts of the world, those who are hostile toward democracy and freedom. And we need to be very careful of who we support in our foreign policy. And I quite frankly -- and this is still unfolding -- but I think this is another example of our current failed foreign policy in America."

shocker.

"I don't think the president sympathizes" - way to go out on a limb Tony. Although, in fairness to Perkins, this is the most pro-Obama statement I think he has ever made. But I take issue with this whole apology canard. I've read the first statement and heard about the follow-up from the Cairo embassy. What apology? We simply said the USA does not condone denigrating other religions...that's it. If the first tweet was an attempt to try and show we didn't want any part of the video that started this crap...what's wrong with that? It's still not an apology.

The only people who need to apologize are Romney and Priebus for lying through their teeth and blatant incompetence in the face of a crisis.

let's see if, because this was SUCH a blunder, that it will be up to others to do the walk back.

If they are gonna walk back, IF, they are certainly slow on the draw.

Could it be that they are NOT gonna Etch-a-Sketch it????????
