Tesla CEO Elon Musk reveals Model Y electric SUV: 'It will ride like a sports car'

Source: USA Today

Tesla unveiled the Model Y SUV late Thursday in the Los Angeles area, marking the debut of a long-awaited electric vehicle that CEO Elon Musk predicted will be the company's best seller.

A two-row version with battery range of 300 miles and a starting price of $47,000 will arrive in fall 2020, he said. It will go 0 to 60 miles per hour in 5.5 seconds.

A performance model starting at $60,000 will also be available in that time frame, Tesla said. A three-row version will also be offered.

A base model with battery range of 230 miles and a starting price of $39,000 will arrive "sometime in 2021," Musk said. It will go 0 to 60 in 5.9 seconds. Tesla later pegged the base version's arrival at spring 2021.

3. If drivers used onramps properly

We wouldn't need a 0-to-60 metric.

5. Hell if they would use their damn turn signals properly if at all it would be a miracle.

Not saying I am perfect at that though because I do slip up now and then and forget but generally I use them even when leaving my driveway as not using them for the little things can lead to worse things like not using them for the major ones and it can be bad habit forming.

4. Yup. Things to crow about are things like as a significant improvement in mileage using even

less power from the battery thus reducing the need to charge as often.

10. I love accelerating on the freeway, zooming away from dangerous drivers.

0-60 is the first feature I look at in any vehicle.

8. Nice Car, the specs look amazing for an electric SUV.

Tesla is single handily changing car industry from gasoline to electric and saving the planet in the meantime.

14. They say how many miles it will go

But when you factor in MOUNTAINS what is the real mileage? I live 120 miles from South Lake Tahoe and it is UP hill all the way until Echo Summit at 7,700 feet. Will all 230 miles be used driving UP hill at half the distance??
