Trump says he's reversing North Korea sanctions imposed by his Treasury Department
Source: The Hill
President Trump said Friday he would reverse sanctions against North Korea that were recently announced by the Treasury Department, a surprise declaration that sparked confusion in Washington.
In a tweet, Trump wrote that it was announced today by the U.S. Treasury that additional large scale Sanctions would be imposed in addition to already existing Sanctions on North Korea.
I have today ordered the withdrawal of those additional Sanctions! the president added.
The Treasury Department on Thursday announced it was imposing new sanctions on two Chinese shipping companies accused of helping North Korea evade existing sanctions.

How the White House is explaining the president's tweet reversing North Korea-related sanctions that his administration imposed yesterday: @PressSec: President Trump likes Chairman Kim and he doesnt think these sanctions will be necessary."

(14,154 posts)Just as China opened up to capital investment, and he took advantage with manufacturing his cheezy products, and now using his office to pave the way for his daughter to expand to China. He sees a future when and if NK would open up the same way. And he wants to get in on the first wave. Build a massive resort / golf course in this new open for business NK.
I'll bet, in those private talks, he is covertly offering all kinds of cash from the US treasury, or offering to find a way to get around the laws and invest in the US, get around sanctions, etc.,. In exchange he wants KJU to put Trump Inc. in front of the line when he at some point will announce that NK has miraculously agreed to a nuclear deal and all sanctions would now be lifted! (Including the right of Americans to invest there)

Important actions today from @USTreasury; the maritime industry must do more to stop North Koreas illicit shipping practices. Everyone should take notice and review their own activities to ensure they are not involved in North Koreas sanctions evasion.

Trump did not reverse North Korea sanctions on Chinese shipping companies: source
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday did not reverse North Korea-related sanctions on two Chinese shipping companies, a U.S. administration source familiar with the matter said.
The source was responding to queries about a tweet sent by Trump earlier in the day that said he had ordered the withdrawal of sanctions announced by the Treasury Department - a statement that seemed to refer to an announcement made on Thursday of measures against shipping companies accused of helping North Korea evade sanctions over its nuclear weapons program.
The tweet was meant to refer to a decision to not go forward with additional large-scale sanctions on North Korea at this time, the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

(101,154 posts)He hears about proposed additional sanctions, and he is so dumb and senile that he can't work out how to reply to it. So he blurts it out in public and leaves it for functioning adults to clear the mess up.
I wonder if they're going to give him any classified information in briefings from now on. He'd just put it on Twitter.

(1,996 posts)I think Trump had the treasury dept. put them on and now he takes them off, looking like he alone is fixing the problem, the big peace nik president. It's something to impress the butt-head far left that thinks all problems would cease if the democratic party would just die.
