British PM May facing plot from minister to oust her: Sunday Times reporter

Source: Reuters

MARCH 23, 2019 / 7:06 PM

LONDON (Reuters) - British Prime Minister Theresa May is facing a full-blown cabinet plot to remove her and 11 cabinet ministers have said they want her to resign, The Sunday Times’s political editor said.

“A full blown cabinet coup is under way tonight to remove Theresa May as prime minister,” Tim Shipman said.

Shipman quoted one unidentified cabinet minister as saying: “The end is nigh. She will be gone in 10 days.”

May’s de-facto deputy, David Lidington, is one contender to be interim prime minister but others are pushing for Environment Secretary Michael Gove or Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt, Shipman said.

It is not that simple. If she goes, we can only end up in one place.... a hard Brexit PM. That would be hideous. A little Englander, British Empire wannabee in charge of the future relationship? I am too fucking old to flee the country.....

I am a remainer but I object to anyone calling for this much hate on the Mother of all Parliaments. I posted this earlier....

achieve something May was not able to, either a new referendum or a negotiated way out of the EU to avoid a hard Brexit.

A hard Brexit would be an economic disaster for the UK, and would also have a very negative affect around the world.

Hopefully, it won't come to a hard Brexit, and I am pretty sure most in parliament realize that, which is why I think the odds are still against a hard Brexit happening

Her first was being bestes buddies with trump while he was campaigning. She knew he is mostly hated there yet she decided to praise him.

Brexit: Theresa May urged to quit to help deal pass

Theresa May could gain support for her Brexit deal if she promises to stand down as prime minister, senior Conservatives have told the BBC. MPs in the party have said they might reluctantly back the agreement if they know she will not be in charge of the next stage of negotiations with the EU.

Newspapers claim cabinet ministers are plotting a coup against the prime minister, aiming to replace her with a caretaker leader until a proper leadership contest is held later in the year. But there are differing accounts of who the preferred candidate is, with the Brexiteer and Remain wings of the party said to disagree.

The prime minister has come under growing pressure to quit following a week in which she was forced to ask the EU for an extension to Article 50, and criticised for blaming the delay to Brexit on MPs.
