Venezuelan deputy minister says more Russian troops could arrive: Interfax

Source: Reuters

APRIL 4, 2019 / 5:54 AM / UPDATED 2 HOURS AGO

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Venezuela’s deputy foreign minister Ivan Gil said on Thursday he does not rule out that more Russian military personnel may arrive in Venezuela under agreements already concluded with Russia, Interfax news agency reported.

The deputy minister also said Russian forces will stay in Venezuela as long as needed, and that there is no set period for their stay.

“The group of military specialists is (in Venezuela) in the context of our agreements and contracts for military-technical cooperation,” Interfax quoted Gil as saying.

Earlier the Kremlin said Russian military specialists are in Venezuela to service pre-existing contracts for the supply of Russian arms.

do not seem to understand the ramifications and continue to oppose USA intervention, well now they can oppose Russian intervention which will not do much good for Venezuela. I like AOC very much, but I don't think she understands the danger of having Russia installed in Venezuela for, like you pointed out, the hemisphere, and what it represents to the Venezuelan people, their nightmare will not go away, it will only get worst.

I feel that unless the orange buffoon feels he can personally benefit economically from intervening in Venezuela, he won't do it, although I feel that Putin gave him marching orders at Helsinki to keep out of Venezuela, his and Pence's initial bravado was just a show.

The sad part is that many of my Venezuelan friends became excited when the buffoon and Pence began their threats to Maduro, I told them to not bring their hopes up, that nothing was going to happen, and that is what I am seeing right now. I have not heard from anyone in the administration since Russia sent the first group of military, besides Pompeo with silly and unuseful threats of placing more sanctions on Venezuela, as if that is going to deter the Russians, or the Venezuelan regime. The Venezuelan regime has robbed so much, Maduro and his people are worth billions, they get all their needs from USA and the islands.

My heart aches for Venezuela. I wish I could understand shy, since the Bush administration, the USA governments have allowed these corrupt regimes to flourish, it makes no sense.

Promising that Russia would consider any act of aggression on the part of Colombia against Venezuela to be an act of war.

Problem is, finding any sabre-rattling on that part of the border is a pretty difficult task. There hasn't been any.

Unless Russia's saying that any aggression by Venezuelan emigrants against Venezuela will be grounds for Russia's bombing of Colombia.

Neither reading of the unilateral threat makes me feel all warm and cuddly.

Isn't that special. Do you think little man Putin will make it to Mexico? Trump seems to concede his master everything he wants.
