Obama widens lead over Romney to seven points: Reuters/Ipsos poll

Source: REUTERS

(Reuters) - President Barack Obama widened his lead over Republican challenger Mitt Romney to 7 percentage points in a Reuters/Ipsos poll of likely voters on Thursday, the latest survey to show the Democrat ahead in the run-up to the November 6 election.

The daily online poll asked 990 likely voters over the previous four days which candidate they would pick if the vote took place today, with 48 percent choosing Obama and 41 percent picking Romney.

The gap has been widening since Obama grabbed the lead in the rolling poll on September 7 when he scooped up 46 percent of likely voters to Romney's 44 percent after the Democratic convention.

"What that really means is that Obama is in good shape," said Ipsos pollster Julia Clark, attributing some of Obama's uptick to the slowly improving sentiment toward the direction of the country shown in Wednesday's telephone poll.

Let's work even harder to make it a landslide the Repukes won't recover from for years.

Up and down the ballot--make those coattails so wide that all Dems can ride to DC on them.

^^^this. Recent history tells us if we are to seriously move the country back toward the *old* center, we need to get all branches. And our work doesn't stop there, either. We then need to make clear to all in power where American hearts truly sit. Left of center, just like in our bodies.

I remember in 2008 that when McCain dropped behind by 10-12 points, ALL conservatives on ALL discussion boards suddenly became ABSOLUTELY SURE that McCain would win. Post after post described the coming McCain landslide. It was like a Festival Of Delusion.

Will they do it again? Looks like Obama is well ahead and pulling away now.

to judge from visiting lucianne.com. They totally discount any poll that has Obama leading, dismissing it as a Dem plot of some kind to demoralize Repuke voters. Watching them be crushed on Election Day will be hilarious.

They are worried about getting republicans to the polls to vote in congressional state, local elections. They need a way to get them to the polls or Democrats takes power up an down the ticket.
