Barr Forms Team to Review FBI's Actions in Trump Probe

Source: Bloomberg

(Bloomberg) -- Attorney General William Barr has assembled a team to review controversial counterintelligence decisions made by Justice Department and FBI officials, including actions taken during the probe of the Trump campaign in the summer of 2016, according to a person familiar with the matter.

This indicates that Barr is looking into allegations that Republican lawmakers have been pursuing for more than a year -- that the investigation into President Donald Trump and possible collusion with Russia was tainted at the start by anti-Trump bias in the FBI and Justice Department.

“I am reviewing the conduct of the investigation and trying to get my arms around all the aspects of the counterintelligence investigation that was conducted during the summer of 2016,” Barr told a House panel on Tuesday.

Barr’s inquiry is separate from a long-running investigation by the Justice Department’s inspector general, said the person, who asked not to be identified discussing sensitive matters. The FBI declined to comment. Barr said he expected the inspector general’s work to be completed by May or June.

I am thankful that at least the Democrats control the House. I can just imagine what would be happening if the Republicans had retained control. I can't wait to vote in 2020. I hope that the Democrats don't shoot themselves in the foot with infighting for the nomination. I will further add that I can't stand Sanders. As Michael Moore said as soon as he entered the race as a sometime Democrat he assured the defeat of Hilary Clinton. I don't understand why Democrats are supporting a person that has the same identical policies on tariffs, NAFTA and TPP as Trump. Trump pulling out of the TPP was a gift wrapped and delivered to China and they are quickly expanded their influence throughout the region. If there is a difference than please feel free to inform me.

with their interjection of the word 'controversial' with regards to the counterintelligence decisions made by the JD and FBI. Assholes.

I said the very day that Barr released his report, this would be their angle. They're going to create a phony-ass investigation OF the investigation, and claim that they don't have to release the Unredacted Report until such time as the 'get down to the bottom' of 'why it was started in the first place', in a 'fruit a poison tree' sort of argument.

And I suppose the 'justification' for Barr's investigation ... is that 'nothing wrong was found' ... purely according to William Barr.

This a such a f***ing LOAD OF BULLSH*T it's unbelievable.

If Mueller goes along with this and doesn't decide that 'enough is enough' of this bullshit, I'm going to lose all respect for him. It's HIS deputies and lifelong associates that are going to be investigated here ... Comey, McCabe, Strzok, etc.

There's no way he's not WELL AWARE that the investigation was brought about for legitimate reasons and according to long-standing policies.

House Dems should start impeachment proceedings against BARR, like TOMORROW.

No doubt he will be asked to reveal what's hidden under traitoR BarR's redactions.

Also "doesn't exonerate him" means?

In public then…

But if BarR sends his obstruction-full, redacted version before May, he could be called in earlier.

is the one who deserves an investigation into motivations for so many investigations she bravely submitted to because she was innocent. But Trump hides from investigations, doing all in his power to subvert them. Begin impeachment proceedings now...before Barr finds excuses to get rid of the evidence.

All those Benghazi, Whitewater and other total scam investigations were ways to undermine Hillary, and they worked. Cost her the presidency. Instead we have a shapeless orange blob, with no morals or decency occupying the WH. Seems this is the perfect president for the gop, since they flock around him to protect the worthless con artist. Hillary should sue several of the gop clowns for defamation of character. She is far more intelligent than the entire group rolled into one. This NIGHTMARE has to end soon.

So that IF the Mueller report ever is leaked, and it reveals the ugly truth we all suspected, this investigation will be in full swing in order to cast a giant shadow of doubt over anything in the report being true.

Barr will be looking at going to prison for his actions. In other words he's a liar too like trump. He also lied when he took his oath, because he is representing trump over the American people. History will not be kind to W Barr for what he's doing.

"Investigating the investigators" basically equates to a threat against law enforcement personnel. "If you dig in to our business, we'll come after you, and we have the power to make your life very difficult".

It's basically a "stay out of jail free" card for the powerful.
