Poll: Roy Moore leading Alabama GOP field

Source: The Hill

Tormer Alabama Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore leads the field of potential Republicans vying for the chance to challenge Sen. Doug Jones (D), a year and a half after Moore lost what was supposed to be an easy election in a deep red state.

A new poll shows Moore leading a still-evolving field of Alabama Republicans vying for the nomination. He is the top choice of 27 percent of Alabama Republican voters, according to the Mason-Dixon Polling & Strategy Inc. survey.

The stateís three Republican members of Congress finish well behind Moore: Rep. Mo Brooks (R) would take 18 percent, Rep. Bradley Byrne (R) clocks in at 13 percent, and Rep. Gary Palmer (R) would take 11 percent.

State Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh (R) would take 4 percent, and businessman Tim Jones (R) finishes with just 2 percent of the vote.

Just as he did last time....

They grow bigger than they do up here. Maybe Roy should just go fishing.

I guess itís better this way because Jones has already beaten Moore. But the idea of him in the Senate is too much.

5. Is that for or against Roy?

Thatís a very mixed up bit of signage. I canít tell if sheís a supporter or a protester. The Americana attire though seems to scream a desperate patriotism reserved for Republicans.

27. Well, that's not a given

The repubs have had plenty of time now to compile a list of lies and half-truths about Jones

The positive is, of course, that Jones beat the pedophile once already.

The negative is that if repubs throw enough cash and dirty tricks into this race that the pedophile could pull it out, and then we'd have an ultra wack-job in the senate. The repubs have had plenty of time now to compile a list of lies and half-truths about Jones, it's certain to be an extremely nasty campaign.

This is amazing, but its more amazing the fact that republicans call themselves Christians, the party of family values, the moral party, blah, blah, blah, but they support a pedophile and don't think twice about it.

29. He'd have a better shot in 2020 than he did in 2017.

Democratic anger was at a peak and Trump wasnít on the ballot. With Trump leading the ticket in 2020, there will likely be millions of Republicans who go and vote straight party that simply stated home in 2017.

37. ...and we wrote this off as a one time outlier.

...he just may be in their for another 6 years. And if he does well for his state in those 6 years, then he's going to be around for awhile. Flip side, he's going to be the "D" vote in congress we can't always count on during very close and heated legislation.

But I'll still take it.
