Mueller report updates: Nadler subpoenas full findings

9 a.m.: House committee subpoenas full Mueller report after Justice Department releases redacted version

The House Judiciary Committee has subpoenaed the full Muller report following the release of a redacted version on Thursday by the Justice Department.

Earlier this month, the committee authorized its chairman, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), to subpoena Mueller's report and the investigation's underlying documents from Barr.

The fight over the Mueller report is expected to land in the courts.

"We need the entire report, unredacted, and the underlying documents in order to make informed decisions," Nadler said earlier Friday on ABC's "Good Morning America."

The president and his supporters sought to turn a page, as Democrats issued a subpoena for the full special counsel's report that detailed what they said was "alarming" behavior.

By Washington Post Staff
April 19 at 8:28 AM

President Trump sought Friday to discredit damaging portions of the report by the special counsel, while Democrats vowed to subpoena the full report that led to no criminal charges but laid bare what they characterized as "alarming" behavior by Trump.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) pledged rigorous congressional oversight following the report by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III that Democrats said showed that Trump sought to obstruct justice in trying to undermine the investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Mueller reached no conclusion on that issue in the report, but Attorney General William P. Barr said Thursday that the president's action did not amount to criminal conduct. The report also found insufficient evidence to charge Trump with illegally coordinating with Russia during the 2016 election.

1. Watch Barr delay forever the subppenas . . .

This matter will have to go the courts. McTurtle has stacked the court. But alas, not all of them . . .

2. They probably already know that

and yes - Obama still got quite a few who managed to get confirmed before his final term ended. I always like to post the below as a note (even with the current slate of GOP judges confirmed recently) because there are many Obama appointees still there -

How Barack Obama Transformed The Nation’s Courts

<...>

Obama will leave office with 329 of his judicial nominees confirmed to lifetime posts on federal courts. That includes two U.S. Supreme Court justices and four judges on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, the two most powerful courts in the nation. Because of Obama, Democratic appointees now have a 7-4 advantage on the D.C. panel, and those judges will play a major role in deciding cases during the Trump administration related to environmental regulations, health care, national security, consumer protections and challenges to executive orders.

Obama also tilted the partisan makeup of circuit courts. Nine of the country’s 13 appeals courts now have majority Democratic appointees, compared with just one when he took office in 2009.

4. The way they have their page formatted is crap but obviously he tweeted this morning

Here is an earlier "update" that they had -

8:10 a.m.: Trump profanely pushes back against descriptions of his behavior in the report

President Trump sought Friday to discredit portions of the Mueller report in which others described his behavior, calling their claims “total bullshit.”

In morning tweets, Trump complained that he was not able to respond because he chose not to testify during the probe. Mueller tried to get the president to sit for an interview for more than a year, but Trump and his lawyers resisted.

“Statements are made about me by certain people in the Crazy Mueller Report, in itself written by 18 Angry Democrat Trump Haters, which are fabricated & totally untrue,” Trump wrote. “Because I never agreed to testify, it was not necessary for me to respond to statements made in the ‘Report’ about me, some of which are total bullshit & only given to make the other person look good (or me to look bad).”

9. Thanks.

Again, he shows the country and world how debased he is. I will never be able to wrap my head around this being acceptable behavior from a president. But come to think of it, nothing about his behavior is acceptable as far as I'm concerned.

13. I had pretty much stopped looking at his tweets

Every action has been beneath the office of the President.

There are people high up in the "power" food chain (and not necessarily "politicians" ) who are probably too stunned or involved in their own affairs to act. But act they must in order to preserve the decorum expected for that office and our place on the world stage.

18. It's getting under Trump's skin

He knows the report doesn't exonerate him. I sure Trump didn't read it, but he watches the news. It's isn't favorable for him. Maybe on Fox, but I don't watch Fox so don't know and don't care about them.

But we know he pays attention to other news sources because he bashes them. He loves to portray himself as the victim.

I hope he goes on a full on tirade on Twitter and keeps using profanity. It further reveals his character. And it's the small things -- like pussy grabbing and bullshitting -- that will turn a contingent of people against him. Or at least sit out the general. I'll take either outcome.

6. I think he called the report 'Total Bullsh*t'

Apparently he's not having the 'greatest weekend' he thought he would have. I knew he was spiking the football as if he'd made it to the end zone - I just thought it would take more than a day (hours, I guess) for him to realize this was just the beginning. Everything in that report is going to get examined publicly and up close until election day, including a public roll out of indictments in the other ongoing investigations. I think the government is going to wind up separating his family.

12. Thanks for the explanation.

Years ago when I was going through a divorce from a nasty narcissist like Trump, in one of his first emails to me regarding the splitting of household goods he used the word "bullshit" and my attorney said to me, "Oh, boy. That email is going to follow him through every court process and the judge is not going to like it." She said typically most judges frown on using profanity in a court process. At the time, I really hadn't known that and quite frankly, didn't think it would sway the judge on anything, but I found out that both judges I had through the rather lengthy ordeal showed outward disdain for his behavior. I was pleasantly surprised. I know that's probably not true of all judges, but the two we have had were both women, so maybe that had something to do with it.
