Source: Feds Probe Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, First Lady For Property Tax Appeals On Gold Coast Mans
Source: WBEZ-TV
Democratic Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, his wife and his brother-in-law are under federal criminal investigation for a dubious residential property tax appeal that dogged him during his gubernatorial campaign last year, WBEZ has learned.
A law-enforcement source familiar with the investigation confirmed to WBEZ that the probe, which has not been revealed publicly until now, began last October and remains active. There are no signs that criminal charges are imminent.
WBEZ has also confirmed that Illinois First Lady MK Pritzkers personal assistant who was involved in the property tax appeal, Christine Lovely, is being represented by one of Chicagos most high-powered lawyers. Her attorney, Reid Schar, is a former federal prosecutor who helped convict ex-Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich on corruption charges.
The developments demonstrate that the billionaire governor and his wife may face a serious legal threat arising from their controversial pursuit of a property tax break on a 126-year-old mansion they purchased next to their Gold Coast home.

How far back do you need to go to find an untainted Governor?

(30,733 posts)We have known about this for a long time. This is Illinois. They are either statesmen or crooks. There is little in between.
I like JB. Let's see what happens.

If there is a dispute, they can pay the back taxes and a fine.

Let's concentrate on trump and the rest of the piggies and leave this good man alone.
Hands off our Illinois Democrats.

(57,075 posts)4 out of previous 7 Illinois governors went to prison

January 30, 2013 (CHICAGO)
Rod Blagojevich was governor from 2002 to 2009. He was convicted of numerous corruption charges in 2011, including allegations that he tried to sell or trade President Barack Obama's old Senate seat. He is currently serving a 14-year sentence at a federal prison in Colorado.
Dan Walker, governor from 1973 through 1977, pleaded guilty to bank fraud and other charges in 1987 related to his business activities after leaving office. He spent about a year and a half in federal prison.
Otto Kerner, governor from 1961 through 1968, spent three years in prison after being convicted of bribery related charges.
Or George Ryan who released at least a dozen falsely convicted death row inmates and put a moratorium on executions and then took hundreds of thousands in kick back through the driver's license department.
Investigation isn't conviction. I hope your guy is found with no need for investigation. Four out of seven of the last Illinois Governors have been jailed. That's all I'm saying and it is true and factual.

(57,075 posts)power that makes them worth corrupting, unlike, say Illinois. We had a governor jailed in the 1920's. How many has Illinois had jailed since the twenties? At least three more than Texas.
Just saying.

(57,075 posts)time. A rare thing in Texas because in Texas being Governor means you are within three or four of the weakest Governor-ships in the nation. They don't have much power than to veto and call special sessions of the Lege. He's got a lot of stroke because maybe he become President or Senator. Going along with the program might payoff. But he/she really doesn't have much power.
