Bill Weld: Trump has 'lost the capacity to govern'

Source: the hill

By John Bowden - 04/25/19 04:50 PM EDT

Former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld (R) said Wednesday that President Trump has "lost the capacity to govern," a view he said was shared by White House staffers.

Weld pointed to instances of aides undermining the president and refusing to carry out his orders outlined in special counsel Robert Mueller's report on the Russia investigation.

I think President Trump has lost the capacity to govern. The picture painted by volume two of the Mueller report is [of] someone who cannot be trusted, and all his own people know he can't be trusted," Weld said on CNN.

..................................................
If he had the self-awareness that Richard Nixon had, sense of shame is too strong a word, but self-awareness is probably too soft a word, he would resign, he told MSNBC. We would be much better off with a President Mike Pence than a President Donald Trump."

3. Bill Weld has a flair for the obvious. Just another GOPer with buyer's remorse. Where was he in '16?

In what way did he resist the Tax Act 2018? The assault on ACA? He hates the "leader", but he loves the program.

15. Ohhhhhh, a Libertarian - just a Republican that wants to smoke pot and legalize brothels.

Sometimes the enemy of my enemy is just another enemy. Other than call Trump names, whats his platform? Where does it match ours past dumping the Orange Shitgibbon?

Screw Weld. We Democrats do not need him. Libertarian, pffft.

25. Weld barely qualifies as a Republican

He's not a Libertarian either, no matter what he calls himself. He's pro-choice, pro-gay rights, pro-gun-control, pro-immigration, etc. No need to screw him.

28. I don't think anyone is calling him our friend.

And I don't think anyone's saying we should support him over any Democrat, but if Weld can peel more support away from Trump, that's good for us, whether we regard Weld as friend or foe.

So it took him 3 years to get here.
Better late than never I say.
There are others like him in the Republican party...more each day as the president continues to demonstrate that he is unfit for office.
I welcome them, and hope they aren't afraid to speak truth to power.

21. "There is no reason to believe a word he says about anything, and the American people deserve better"

That sentence above is as powerful a sentence as anyone could say...Take a good look. Bill Weld has declared war on Trump.

Telling him to "resign from office.." is the strongest statement anyone can make.

27. Trump's statement last night about an attempted coup by the FBI proves it.

This statement by Bill Weld along with Trump's FBI "attempted coup" statement prove what people have been thinking. "Trump has lost capacity to govern....."

I think we may have moved into the last act of this play.

29. Hope so!

But it seems Chump doesn't regard Weld as formidable. I think Chump is terrified of facing Joe Biden in debates though, assuming Biden gets the nod as our Nominee.
