Mississippi rep accused of punching wife issues statement

Source: Associated Press

Updated 4:32 pm CDT, Saturday, May 25, 2019

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A Mississippi lawmaker accused of recently punching his wife has issued a statement, saying the incident has been misrepresented, although he did not say how so.

Authorities say state Rep. Doug McLeod was drunk and bloodied his wife's nose after she didn't undress quickly enough when he wanted to have sex.

According to separate statements from the couple, each referred to "many fabrications and misrepresentations" in the media about the May 18 incident. McLeod, a Republican from Lucedale, says he would address the allegations once "the process is complete."

McLeod's wife asked the public to "reserve judgment" and "respect our family and our family's privacy."

Let that be a lesson to all of us. When a Republican legislator tells us "drop 'em" we'd better be prepared to drop 'em, or go to our "stand your ground" level of preparedness.

FOXHenhouse's Douchey and Killme are probably on the case, scouring his wife's past for some incident that proves she "deserved" it.

For her part, I have very little doubt the "reserve judgment" and "respect...our family's privacy" requests were made under coercion. Family values, y'all!!

It is difficult for the abused to leave their abusers. I know. When a young child I heard my father break my mother's arm and ribs. she never left. He got "counseling" which meant he was just mentally and emotionally abusive.

That's rich coming from people who have no respect at all for anyone else's family or their privacy.

Yep. A punch in the face done in Republican privacy is no one's business at all.

And it was his wife, after all. Got to teach women their place!
Hesitant for sex equals punching bag time! Makes sense! (to him, not to me though.)

Bit late to trot out the 'respect' and 'privacy' angles as a defense though. None shown, none will be given.

The 'nothing to see here, move along' approach he is trying just won't wash.

I hope she walks. Or he does jail time.

It's Mississippi, after all.

Wife probably signed a pre-nup declaring she would accept all 'corrections' of her behaviour from her husband.

Girl gotta know her place. Real good on family values, Mississippi is!

Didn't the story come from a police report? Wouldn't she have been the one who called the police? They are trying to blame the media who quoted the police report.

Rep. Scumbag was begging wifey to stop serving him liquor. That really PO her, and she charged him like crazed elephant, holding a glass of booze and demanding him to open his mouth. He steeled himself in defense. He scrunched closed his eyes, extended his right arm, clenched his fist to prevent damage to fingers (he is an accomplished violinist), and gently said "sweetie, please control yourself." In her rage, she purposely collided with him -- her already distorted face slamming into his fist. She knew that if she could break his fingers, he would never play the piano (or was that the violin?) again. She would sell that damn violin (or was it a piano?) and get herself a sports car. But, she did not think ahead. This act could cause hubby to lose his chickenshit salary -- that elevates her above most of her fellow Miss-sip'ns. Only telling the truth and exonerating hubby will save that princely monthly paycheck. First thing this morning, she will meet with the GOP spinster and get her story out ahead of the fake news.
