At least 11 dead after disgruntled employee opens fire at Virginia Beach municipal center

Source: CNN

The shooter who opened fire indiscriminately in a Virginia Beach city building Friday afternoon, killing at least 11 people and sending six others to the hospital, was a disgruntled employee, a Virginia government source briefed on the investigation told CNN.

The shooter died after a gunfight with police.

Police Chief James Cervera told reporters Friday night the gunman was a public utilities worker.

"This is the most devastating day in the history of Virginia Beach," said Mayor Bobby Dyer. "The people involved are our friends, coworkers, neighbor, colleagues."

We were there last summer and I rented a surf board, then chilled with my wife. It really is a nice town, and almost all are very nice people.

My heart goes out to every one there.

"If only a 'good guy' with a gun was there..."

Grow the fuck up, America. It's not a cowboy movie. You're not Daniel Boone.
You are not "protecting yourself from a tyrannical government".
The sick American gun culture is based on the notion that
firearms are an answer to everything.
I would lose no sleep over a government crackdown on gun ownership
and availability. Then again, I'm not a fucking paranoid coward who is afraid
that everyone is out to kill me.

I've heard it before. "Well, I grew up in rural America, and guns are our life."

Well, rural America is made up of about 20% of the population.
That's a small minority. These mass shootings don't happen in rural America.
Let the large population centers make gun laws to suit their needs, and protect their citizens.

According to the Supreme Court. The issue is the lack of wide and deep public support for draconian gun control laws.

Tin cans, birds, vermin, neighbour's dog if it barks too much, neighbour if he complains.

And the biggie - the boss and his cronies when you get fired.

Glad there aren't any guns around here, body count by my doing would be up to about 10 by now.

No, just joking. But until America gets sane about guns, this sad and insane joke will just continue.

Thoughts, prayers and inaction on guns. The American Way. NRA, Second Amendment, and all that. Same as always.

Has the White House done the meaningless 'Thoughts & Prayers' bit yet? I stopped following Trump a while ago.

And so is Trump as president, unlimited gun ownership, the prosperity gospel, and

preachers and priests sexually abusing anyone they please.

The upside-down right-wing America list can go on forever.......
