Judge to appoint special prosecutor to investigate handling of Jussie Smollett case

CHICAGO A Cook County judge ruled Friday that a special prosecutor would be appointed to investigate the Jussie Smollett case.
Specifically, the special prosecutor would examine States Attorney Kim Foxxs office and its controversial decision to drop all charges against Smollett.
Smollett was accused of disorderly conduct, and staging a phony hate crime, to raise his profile and salary on the television series Empire.
Chicago police have said that they have overwhelming evidence against Smollett.

(7,534 posts)Is there a fundamental difference in the cases that I'm missing here? Same juridsdiction, similar cases here, and yet one person, an African-American entertainer is prosecuted while a GOP operative known for filing false claims and police reports walks without charges?

(1,568 posts)I didn't know about this until I read your post. I assumed maybe he didn't get in trouble because he didn't report it to police like Smollete, but it looks like Wohl did report it. He should be charged too.
