After Jeffrey Epstein's death, prosecutors examine his inner circle

Source: CNN

New York (CNN)The jail cell death of accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein over the weekend positioned prosecutors to pursue his associates, some of whom allegedly assisted him in abusing underage girls. On Monday, his accusers and law enforcement officials indicated they had taken the first steps toward doing so.

The US attorney's office in Manhattan has suggested it will advance the case by focusing on the conspiracy charge against Epstein, which accused him of working with employees and associates to operate a vast sex-trafficking ring involving dozens of girls. The conspiracy count could allow prosecutors to charge anyone else involved in the scheme.

Some of Epstein's accusers on Monday moved toward pursuing his alleged co-conspirators in a civil case: they asked a federal judge to unwind a nonprosecution agreement the alleged sex trafficker reached with Florida prosecutors a decade ago that immunized his associates.

Members of Epstein's inner circle who have not faced sexual abuse allegations also appear to be bracing for further legal action.

The article also mentions that L Brands CEO Leslie Wexner, a close friend, has now hired a prominent criminal defense attorney.

1. On one level, Epstein's death is very bad for them... all the evidence that was in his possession

will be obtainable by investigators, without the usual legal wrangling by his lawyers to suppress evidence, resist subpoenas, and limit the scope of warrants. Just as the criminal case against him evaporated into the ether with his death, so too do his 4th and 5th Amendment protections (AFAIK, but IANAL).

On the other hand, he can't elaborate on the evidence, or testify to his personal observations, and that is very good for them.

2. They will have to go through Barr

To get anything, and he'll make evidence vanish, especially video's discovered that would damage his client trump, or arr's dad. Barr will again conspire to cover up the truth for trump and others and obstruct , and pick only the ones trump wants prosecuted , his opposition and Democrats, while others go scott free. This is going to backfire for trump and Barr, and Congress should look into all this now, especially Epstein's trump and russia's putin involvement. Was Epstein selling blackmail information to trump and putin?

3. They need to START with Barr, since his family has be with Epstein since 1970s.

His father, Donald Barr was headmaster at The Dalton School in NYC and hired Epstein to teach math and physics. Later Barr himself was in the law firm that defended Epstein in 2007.

5. That is what's missing from almost ALL coverage of Epstein...

Heard it mentioned in MSNBC, but not much it at all on NBC or the other networks.. NYT and WaPo donít seem to be interested in making the connection, either.

6. If they were actually looking for

Maxwell they'd already have her. Curious about Wexner hiring an attorney though.
