Trump says deal on guns 'much harder,' blames Beto O'Rourke's comments last week
Source: Washington DC
President Trump said Wednesday it has become much harder to reach a deal with Democrats on gun legislation, blaming an emphatic call by former congressman Beto ORourke (Tex.) for a mandatory buyback program for assault-style weapons.
ORourke created one of the most memorable moments of last weeks Democratic presidential debate in Houston when he spoke passionately about a need for gun control in the wake of recent mass shootings. Hell, yes, were going to take your AR-15, your AK-47, he said, referring to his support for mandatory buybacks of war weapons.
Dummy Beto made it much harder to make a deal. Convinced many that Dems just want to take your guns away, Trump said on Twitter, adding: Will continue forward!
His tweet comes as Congress waits for Trump to announce what gun-related proposals he would support following a spate of mass shootings, including back-to-back massacres last month in El Paso and Dayton, Ohio.

(43,048 posts)I reread my post and please don't think I don't think Beto significant. I was making a comment about what's going on in Trump's mind. He usually ignores all but the top tier candidates and House members. But Beto is on a roll with a theme Trump can't ignore.

(11,884 posts)After he took millions in campaign contributions, he's blaming others when its clear after the NRA gave him and others millions his position was already set, he was already going to do nothing and again this is just more excuses from trump , which is a typical move for a con man like he is.

(101,268 posts)Trump was obviously looking around for any excuse to do fuck all, and thus satisfy the NRA. That one politician, not even in Congress (and without a realistic chance of winning the primary, either), could be used as an excuse to stop working with an entire party is just absurd.
