A mailer circulating in Montana labeled "2019 congressional district census" notifies voters "you have been selected to represent voters in Bozeman, Montana," with an enclosed letter that reads, "President Trump has requested that a Census of every Congressional district be conducted immediately."
But the form, one of many sent to residents in at least four counties across the state, is not for the official U.S. census.
It is instead a survey, commissioned by the Republican Party, as written at the top of the form, to solicit donations for President Trump's re-election campaign.
The attached letter, signed by Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, reads, "To target voters in Bozeman and help ensure President Trumps re-election
Your participation in this national effort will provide us with detailed data we need concerning Montanas At-Large Congressional district."

(19,171 posts)Tuesday of this week, as a matter of fact. I don't know why, I've never voted for a republican and have never contributed a penny to a republican.
However I did fill out the "census", filling in all the boxes that didn't say Trump was the savior of our nation. They weighted the questions so you almost had to say Trump was a genius, but I didn't fall for that old trick. At the end of the "census" they wanted a donation of at least $25. I taped a shiny new penny to the "census" and wrote in Sharpie (not an official Donald Trump model though) "This is for my thoughts". Then in bright red Sharpie (again, not an official Donald Trump model) I wrote, "TRUMP MUST GO" in large letters, taking up most of the room where they wanted my vital information for "the census".
Then I affixed two First Class stamps (I wanted to make sure it got there, with the extra weight of the shiny new penny and all) and gave it to our letter carrier to whisk away to republican national headquarters.
It was great fun, and worth the cost.

(2,146 posts)Now I have a practical reason to open the inevitable tsunami of right-wing push-poll propaganda. Regardless of the candidate, that's an appropriate use of their attempts to solicit information and money. Let them know, the wannabe dictator MUST GO, they fell in line with the wannabe dictator, they MUST GO.
I am a little stingier with my shiny new pennies, though
