Graham vows to publicly question whistleblowers if Trump is impeached

Source: The Hill

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) promised to question the whistleblowers publicly if President Trump ends up impeached.

Graham told Fox News on Sunday that if the president is impeached, he intends to have the whistleblowers testify in the Senate if they don't go before the House.

"If the whistleblower's allegations are turned into an impeachment article, it's imperative that the whistle-blower be interviewed in public, under oath and cross-examined. Nobody in America goes to jail or has anything done to them without confronting their accuser," he said.

The South Carolina senator said the whistleblowers need to come forward so the "public can judge their credibility."

Impeachment isn't a criminal proceeding, it's a job performance review. Lindsey needs to dust off his old constitutional law textbook and re-read the Sixth Amendment:

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.

The impeachment process actually affords plenty of due process even though it's not a criminal trial, but a whistleblower is protected by a specific statute and his/her public testimony can't be compelled for that reason.

Not sure if "rules" is the right word but I'm sure they have the right to be private -- otherwise, obviously they could not be protected, especially when bringing allegations against some beloved reality star such as the Scrumpster (OMG, hated to write that).

Just making a WB testify in public so the public can decide is a retaliation. It will serve to chill WBs in the future if they know the superiors doing wrong and all of the public will get to identify and scrutinize them personally, rather than just making sure the facts they provide are delivered for consideration outside of the normal reporting channels.

I must admit, I had never heard of the “Mann Coulter” nickname.

I almost ran into her once.

This was around '06. I was walking my dogs in Santa Monica, and she took a sharp right turn (appropriately enough) just as I was starting to cross. Close call for my dogs, let me tell you.

Her window was down, and I saw her clear as day. Bad posture, hair worn thin by all the bleaching, Adam's apple out to here.

Be that as it may, she's become quite critical of the Rotten Orange lately. I'm sure she'll flip once Biden or Warren become president - but for now, I guess, the more the merrier.

You call the police and tell them where it is. That ends your obligation. The police take it from there and investigate. If it is the stolen car and the thief confesses it does not matter what your motivation was in telling the police.
If it wasn't the car they were looking for, oh well.

So the whistle blower is done at this point. It doesn't matter what his/her/its motivation was or is.

counting the money he is receiving since the impeachment inquiry....Makes a person wonder if he is lying like his buddy drumpf..

Last week, Harrison announced that he raised $2.1 million over the summer in his quest to unseat Graham,,,In all, Harrison has hauled in $4 million since February... Harrison is within 7 points of Graham among South Carolina voters, even though more than half of them have never heard of him. The poll also says 58 percent of voters would prefer to vote for someone other than Graham.

A few years ago, the senator was the sort of Republican that attracted respectable support across party lines. He was thoughtful, fair, and bipartisan when it made sense.

Harrison — a Yale graduate who is now a top official at the Democratic National Committee — has the type of network to tap into that few other Democrats in the state could match.

Harrison said, “and it’s probably good to bring some new blood and new ideas, someone who understands the struggles that people are having these days and is focused on addressing them.”
Dinging Graham for “chumming it up with the president” and focusing his ire most recently on the arrest of former Trump aide Roger Stone, Harrison said it is time for the state to start a “new chapter” in Washington. Go Harrison!!! We need to get Ms Lindsey OUT!!!
