Minneapolis police union selling "Cops for Trump" T-shirts, in wake of uniform ban

Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune

The Minneapolis police union has come out with a "Cops for Trump" T-shirt, just days after the Police Department banned officers from wearing their uniforms in support of candidates at political events or in ads.

Lt. Bob Kroll, head of the officers' union, posted the T-shirt image on his personal Facebook page, saying the shirts will be for sale starting Monday at the union's headquarters for $20 each and will soon be available online.

Last week, Kroll accused the Police Department of instituting its new policy just before President Donald Trump's visit to Minneapolis. He said he was told about the ban Sept. 27, one day after Trump announced Thursday's rally at Target Center, and after Mayor Jacob Frey's statement that Trump was unwelcome in the city.

"My members are outraged," Kroll said in a televised interview Sept. 29 with Fox News. "A lot of them want to be there; they want to be in the backdrop, have an opportunity to meet him. He's shown that he's a very pro-law enforcement president."

For example they talk the talk about being for moral and for traditional family values yet they are willing to support and vote for multiple candidates that cheat on their spouses and or have divorced and remarried multiple times such as Trump.
They also say they are law abiding and would not vote for anyone that would break a law except then they support Republicans that break the law like Trump.
They claim they are patriots but they still support candidates that do backroom deals with hostile foreign governments to help them win an election.

Rules in this country are for everyone EXCEPT conservative white males. The country was designed for them to live out their fantasies at the expense of everyone else. How else could slavery, segregation, and public lynching have been legal? How else could Big Con Don get elected? How else could Roy Moore come so close to getting elected? How else could Kavanaugh get on the supreme court? Why did the media allow Pinocchio to do his racist "show me your birth certificate" crap on their airwaves directed at a sitting biracial U.S. President? There is no venom for any of the evil behavior of conservative white males. It gets excused and applauded. Good old "locker room talk".

When I left in the late 1990s, it was well-established that St. Paul had a fine police force and Minneapolis had a mix of wannabe Nazis and itchy-palmed, corrupt sleazebags.

St. Paul, however, had a Fire Department made up of misogynistic assholes, and Minneapolis had an amazing Fire Department.

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose...

The Minneapolis Police Dept has the good and the bad. When I was young the St. Paul cops were considered to be the bottom of the barrell, but they have made great improvements. Like you said the fire department is first rate in Minneapolis. It's really ironic that Kroll would support a criminal, but I am not surprised. Maybe the union members will wake up and realize that Kroll is destroying the public image of the MPD. He is really a piece of shit and out of tune with a city that is very diverse and heavily Democratic.
Interesting to me that the image of the 2 departments has reversed in my lifetime. In my opinion, the real problem with the MPD is that their is no accountabilty at all. The upper ranks have become a highly paid bunch of loafers who look the other way.

Don isn't "very pro-law enforcement." Cops are good stage props. Just like the military, firefighters and people of color.

And, once they are in attendance with those shirts on, I hope every media outlet in town goes out of their way to get nice, clear images of those officers who wear them. Any one else who is around that event, please get photos of any person wearing those shirts. I hope for a media blitz as far as their images being saturated on the television, in printed media, in tweets... just make sure their pictures are being shown so that the human beings in this city can tell whether or not they should be in fear for their lives if they are harassed by those particular cops. I hope I do get to see some pics of these cops, so I can pull that 'I don't feel safe' thing and ask the dispatch to send another officer. And, to keep on doing it until one who wasn't wearing a shirt arrives, not to mention being vocal as to why I did not feel safe in the first place. I am from the South, and let me tell you, there is not much difference between my backwater hometown and this supposed 'progressive' city when it comes to politics, religion, or the 'caste' system that we all want to say doesn't happen here. (Spoiler, we have one in this country and have had it for a long time.)

I am betting that they want to be able to wear their uniforms so that no one will harrass them for their support of a wanton criminal who has duped yet another group of Dunning-Kruger candidates into thinking that a spoiled, rich blowhard would have ever been a good choice as a leader. (The suspension of belief that these rich f*cks are laboring under is beginning to fray. Not that anyone will care, since our collective society is still telling me that someone who has screwed over as many people as some of these wealthy types had to have screwed over to get where they are should be looked at as paragons of our community. The rich are little more than bottom feeders and their social position is a contrived bit of propaganda started by themselves to try and look like human beings... something that they gave up for riches a long time ago.)

"My members are outraged," Kroll said in a televised interview Sept. 29 with Fox News. "A lot of them want to be there; they want to be in the backdrop"

This is corruption. I would expect any officer not to wear uniform at a political event when you're there to support.
