Washington (CNN)Even as the White House appears to settle on the legal tactics to stave off Democrats' impeachment demands, uncertainty and unease over Trump's messaging approach remains high among his Republican allies, who see the ever-growing inquiry consuming the White House.
Trump has offered scant indication he is turning his focus to governing, despite his lawyers writing in a letter to Democrats that "he remains focused on fulfilling his promises to the American people."
Instead, the President has spent hours tweeting about the impeachment and lighting up the phone lines of his allies on Capitol Hill -- including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, to whom he's stressed the importance of Republican unity.
In private, Trump is increasingly leaning on the Republican leader in the Senate. In a return to the President's panicked behavior during the height of the Mueller investigation, Trump is calling McConnell as often as three times a day, according to a person familiar with the conversations.

(16,070 posts)He sees loyalty as just another commodity...to be either traded for a favor or sold for cold hard cash...and with the current Republicans...he has both strong-armed and bought their loyalty!
Look at the House minority leader, insisting on a procedure that doesn't exist in either the US Constitution or the Rules of the House of Representatives...McCarthy is already been bought as have Gym Jordan, Devin Nunes, and pretty much every Republican in both the Senate and the House!
Trump has their loyalty...and those like Romney and Collins are just paying lip service...because in the end they, just like Jeff Flake will support Trump!!!

(9,426 posts)working hard to get every gop member to sign a Loyalty Pledge to tRump. Too bad they could not get them to do their jobs, representing their constituents. From what I have seen, most of the gop are below average intelligence, with major problems in their history. Gym Jordan with the pedophile cover up. Nunes with his open servitude to tRump, sneaking in the middle of the night to the WH to report to tRump about what is discussed in the Intelligence meetings. Getz with his Captain Kangaroo ridiculous analogy. McCarthy appeared on "6o Minutes" looking like a deer caught in the headlights when asked ANY questions regarding dear leader. Too bad the gop has to scrape the very bottom of every barrel finding ignorant people to represent their party. They have as much integrity and sense of shame as the orange asshole in the WH.

(26,280 posts)I doubt we could do it but I would love it if it caused us to get a 68 majority as we could ram through a host of things like massive ethics reform laws with stiff penalties for example which the Repugants would never do as they are corrupt as hell.

(3,335 posts)First it was our European and Canadian Allies that he was insulting, for no good reason. Now he's throwing the people who have been fighting with us on the ground in some of the world's worse hellholes, to the wolves, at the behest of some of the worse tyrants in the world, and for his precious Trump Tower in Turkey. If I were a bomber in the US Military, Trump Tower in Turkey would be my first target. Ooops!!!
Trump is doing this at the behest of Putin, and if Mitch McConnell doesn't know by now WHO is pulling Trump's strings, than he is dumber then Trump. At least you know with certainty that Trump has a personal motive for everything he does.

National Rifle Association
After the National Rifle Association remained almost entirely silent during nearly two years of investigations into their ties to Russia and that countrys interference in the 2016 presidential election, a new bombshell Senate report labels the gun rights group a foreign asset of Russia.

(410 posts)Jury Tampering
In the Impeachment the House is the "law enforcement" to determine if the is cause for impeachment.
If shown in their Articles of Impeachment to be affirmative, the Senate becomes the "Judge & Jury" for punishment [removal, or whatever].
So if Trump is "leaning" on Moscow Mitch [Judge] or any Rethug [Jury] that is defined as Criminal.
I think as a consequence all Rethugs must be recused, leaving only the Dems as a Jury needing 2/3 approval.
