Kasich calls for Trump's impeachment 02:39
(CNN) Former Ohio Gov. John Kasich said President Donald Trump should be impeached, a major switch for a former Republican presidential candidate who had previously defended the President.
Breaking from his party's overall stance, Kasich, who's a CNN contributor, told CNN's Ana Cabrera Friday the "final straw" for him was White House acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney's Thursday admission that military aid was withheld from Ukraine in order to pressure that country for investigations into Democrats.
"But if you are asking me if I was sitting in the House of Representatives today and you were to ask me how do I feel, do I think impeachment should move forward and should go for a full examination and a trial in the United States Senate, my vote would be yes." Kasich said on CNN's "Newsroom."
The high-profile Republican said the events of Thursday afternoon -- Mulvaney's admission of a quid pro quo and the announcement of the resignation of Energy Secretary Rick Perry chief among them -- caused him to rethink his stance.

Well, he isn't, but boy is he working to convince people that he is.

(22,912 posts)The Republicans running against Trump for The Republican nomination up to now were playing a long shot.Their political fortunes were essentially going nowhere so they had little to lose. Kasich was the runner up for the nomination in 2016. This is a bolder step than I expected from Kasich at this stage. He is the highest profile Republican backing impeachment now.

(34 posts)The man frightens me. MSM tries to paint him as a moderate voice of reason. Look at the GOP policies him and his cronies rammed through in Ohio. I really think he sees a chance at replacing Trump at the top of the ticket

Notice Kasich didnt speak out earlier. So we can assume he was ok with Trump trying to get Mueller fired and trying to convince Sessions to unrecuse.

My question is simply this: What is taking Republicans so long to realize they're fucked with Trump?

Yawn. Call me when a sitting Republican who isn't about to retire cuts ties with the Donald.

And maybe they're trying to save the Senate by implying that Pubs are basically moderates and the Traitor in Chief is just an aberration.
I say we should discredit the entire Pub party so badly that no self-respecting American would go near one of them let alone vote for one.
The Senate race is as important as the WH race this time because if we win the WH we will need a Dem Congress to help straighten out the mess. If, God forbid, we don't win the WH but have both houses of Congress we can control the damage and still pursue the Pub criminals who remain in elected or appointed offices. Not to mention prevent a new Pub appointee to SCOTUS.

I will never forgive you and the rest of the T-Bagging morons for what you've done to our country and the once great state of Ohio.
You used racism and hatred to get yourselves into power, and then you relentlessly and without remorse, gerrymandered the ever living fuck out of Ohio so your party could win 50.2% of the vote and end up with 86% of the political representation.
I give not one fuck about your deathbed conversion.
Seriously, if fucking John Kasich is the fucking voice of reason, this fucking country is finished.
