Poll: 14 percent of GOP voters say Trump should be impeached

Fourteen percent of Republican voters said in a recent Hill-HarrisX poll that President Trump should be impeached and removed from office.

The survey, released Monday, was conducted before acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney said last week that aid for Ukraine was linked to Trump's desire for the country to pursue a political probe related to the 2016 election.

Still, the 14 percent GOP support for impeachment marks a 2 percentage point increase from a Sept. 26-27 poll that was taken just days after Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) launched a formal impeachment inquiry into Trump over his dealings with Ukraine.

Overall, 47 percent of voters in the Oct. 11-12 survey support impeachment, a 4-point increase compared to the September poll.

Support for impeachment among Democratic voters also increased, to 81 percent from 75 percent in the previous survey. Meanwhile, the share of independent voters who favor impeachment rose 4 percentage points to 41 percent................................

More as trump gets exposed along with the Republican Party and it's members of Congress. Trumps destroying their party now, and every day he's left in office their numbers will spiral downwards , and hopes of having any power will be gone. The republicans know this too, and a few could simply in the Senate switch party to remove Moscow Mitch from his leadership role for good for allowing Him and trump to ruin any chance they might have had. Their will be more party switching going on against trump and Moscow Mitch. They know they can't stay with Putin and trump any longer, or possibly be charged with conspiracy for helping them. Every day it's getting closer to them all becoming exposed, indicted, and convicted. It's only a matter of time before all these criminals realize justice will prevail against them, especially for trump and their crime family.

If nothing he's done thus far will convince them that he needs to be removed, more of the same is unlikely to do so.

We often make the mistake of trying to apply rational thought to the irrational. These people buy the spin of Fox News, talk radio, and far-right social media so they aren't even being exposed to reality now.

They aren't going to acknowledge the truth when they can't even see it.

His approval rating has been 85%-90% among the GOP for most of his presidency. The 14% could be that same group who've disapproved of him all along.

I think the real Trumpers aren't going anywhere.

No Trumper I know thinks he should be impeached or removed from office. They aren't going to change. For many of them there's too much cognitive dissonance to finally thinking Trump is a vulgarian and an idiot. There are people in my family who support Trump. Decent people who were raised right who know damn well somewhere inside themselves who he is. They voted for him either because he was the Republican nominee and/or because they would vote for anybody before they'd vote for A Girl. So now they are stuck, because if they look at him and see what he actually is they wouldn't be able to square what they voted for with who they are. I'm not saying this is everybody, but it's a lot of people who voted for Trump. They aren't all raving racists. Some of them did not, and now cannot, see him for what he is.
