Jimmy Carter hospitalized after fall at Georgia home

Source: AP

PLAINS, Ga. (AP) — Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter has been hospitalized after a fall at his home in Plains, Georgia.

A statement from The Carter Center says Jimmy suffered “a minor pelvic fracture” on Monday, but remains in good spirits and looks forward to recovering at home.

Carter Center spokeswoman Deanne Congileo told The Associated Press that she had nothing more to add to the statement.

Carter already fell once at his home earlier this month, leaving the 95-year-old with 14 stitches and bruising around his left eye. Despite that, he still showed up to help build a home with Habitat for Humanity the next day in Nashville, Tennessee. He used a cane when he rallied volunteers that morning.

1. Hoping for the best

But there’s no such thing as a “minor” pelvic fracture when you’re in your 90s.

3. Yes, and I am deeply concerned.

That is in reply to your post moosewhisperer.
The surgery is brutal (if need be).

I am going to be distraught until I hear some encouraging news.

2. Oh my goodness, I hope he heals and comes home very soon!

I know he is 95 and holding (with such grace & dignity) but he needs to stick around awhile!

4. He needs more physical support than he is getting, IMO...

I have been my husband's caregiver, after two surgeries for his spinal stenosis and his post operative visits from a home health assistant were no longer covered by our insurance, and there were times that he would try things he shouldn't have. That is just human nature, I guess.

Bless Jimmy Carter! This man is such an example to us in a time when we NEED to be reminded of his grace and goodness, his intellect and his moral code of conduct.

10. President Carter, everyone who loves you will be thinking of you.

That includes quite a few people on Democratic Underground.

Please take it easy sir, and heal quickly. We will always need your incredible guidance, strength and dignity.

14. Indeed, it is usually indicative of a precipitous decline in health.

I think his days on Construction Sites are over, at a minimum.

Healing thoughts.
