Obama has more campaign money to spend than Romney

Source: Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) — At the end of August, President Barack Obama had about $88.8 million to spend on the final months of the campaign, nearly twice as much as Republican rival Mitt Romney, according to campaign fundraising reports released Thursday.

While Romney's report showed he had $50.4 million to spend as of Aug. 31, he also owed $15 million on a $20 million loan taken that month.

The loan helped Romney pay for mailings, staff salaries and TV advertising — and it helped his finances appear healthier on paper. It also boosted his cash-on-hand total from $35.4 million — a number that's closer to a third of Obama's haul.

While Romney raised about $66.6 million in August to Obama's $84.7 million, the $20 million loan boosts Romney's total receipts to $86.6 million, slightly higher than his Democratic opponent's take.

Of course, this does not include all the SuperPAC money and Dark Money in which Romney holds a huge lead by virtue of the Sheldon Adelson and Kochs of the world. However, with respect to donations by actual voters, Obama is doing far better than Romney.

Because they like him. Whereas Romney isn't liked by anyone. The big donors and the bundlers will give but he'll get nowhere near the amount of everyday working people that the President enjoys. He's just a smarmy, greedy creep. And people see it.

2. The only way I can explain Romney's campaign right now is that Obama's spending his money too.

Such a glorious, glorious trainwreck the last couple weeks, composed of smaller trainwrecks, a nice little matrioshka catastrophe all the way down...

I'm increasingly convinced the man's PR folks are all Democratic spies.

But nevertheless, realizing that Willard is doomed, just like rats off a ship the billionaire financiers
of his campaign may start pulling their megabucks out of his self-made debacle. B.I.H., Willard Romney!

5. I think Mitt's SuperPAC money is drying up because the donors realize that investment is bust

Rove is taking his SuperPAC money to the Congressional elections now. They're just putting it to better use. They didn't get filthy rich by betting on the lame horse.
