Gary Johnson Files Anti-Trust Lawsuit To Get Into Presidential Debates

Source: buzzfeed

Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson filed an anti-trust lawsuit in federal court Friday to try to force his way into next month's presidential debates.

Johnson, who first sought the GOP primary nomination before launching a third-party bid, is suing the nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates and both the Democratic and Republican parties, calling the CPD a "conspiracy."

The CPD was founded jointly by the two parties and the nominee, and the lawsuit alleges that they meet every four years to set the rules for the debate to "hoodwink" the American people.

Johnson is asking the courts to force the CPD to allow for all candidates who are on the ballot in enough states to reach 270 electoral votes to have a spot on the debate state.

According to a release, Johnson’s running mate and retired California Superior Court Judge Jim Gray will argue the motion on the campaign’s behalf.

What the hell are they waiting for?

In fact, they should bring out and dust off those old CHICKEN GEORGE suits that Clinton Supporters used to wear, and follow Romney around insinuating that he's too chicken to have a three way debate with a "REAL" conservative/libertarian.

Nader tried every legal move possible in both 2000 and 2004 to get in, but had zero luck.
The debate commission is a farce, as far as their criteria for admission goes, but is firmly entrenched in place.

However, the electoral college doesn't make a hell of a lot of sense. Not having instant runoff voting doesn't make a lot of sense. Allowing any money to be used in political campaigning, let alone unlimited money, doesn't make any sense...

The debates aren't the first thing I'd try to change.

That's where Republicans go when they can't stand their candidate.

I think the Libertarians will have their best showing yet this year.

some air time to all the other candidates - Johnson, Roseanne Barr, and so on. Even if just to allow each one 5 minutes to speak to the country. Why couldn't C-Span do it? It could be a forum for all the candidates who did not get to debate on national TV. I'd watch it.
