Rep. Duncan Hunter to abandon 'not guilty' plea in campaign finance scandal

Source: San Diego Union-Tribune

After years of denials and claims he was the target of a political witch hunt, Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Alpine, is scheduled to appear in federal court Tuesday morning to change his plea of not guilty to charges stemming from a sweeping campaign finance investigation.

The announcement was posted on the U.S. District Court docket Monday morning without any supplemental documentation.

“Notice of change of hearing as to defendant Duncan D. Hunter,” the docket entry states. “Change of Plea Hearing set for 12/3/2019 10:00 AM in Courtroom 3C before Judge Thomas J. Whelan.”

The reversal comes nearly six months after Hunter’s wife and former campaign treasurer, Margaret Hunter, admitted to her role in a widespread scheme that saw the couple allegedly spend more than $200,000 in campaign donations on family expenses like vacations, gas, groceries, school lunches and oral surgery. Such spending is prohibited to prevent undue influence by contributors.

3. Will it be "Guilty" or "nolo contendere"?

In nolo contendere the defendant does not accept or deny responsibility for the charges but agrees to accept punishment.

Is this felonious fraud still sitting in Congress?

5. Why he is still out of jail even now is a mystery.

6. Good to see San Diego activists

giving this POS the reception (and signage) he deserves. Unlike the East SD County chuckleheads who voted for him after he was indicted. And who will no doubt vote for issa. They love their puke crooks in East SanDiegotucky. I used to live in his district so know whereof I speak.

8. We got an Issa campaign letter last week

It was full of his love for Trump and how his main Republican adversary in the upcoming primary (Carl DeMaio) doesn't love Trump as much as he does.

13. The same Carl DeMaio that was a City Councilman ...

and allegedly got caught jerking-off in a city hall bathroom, then
when he ran against Scott Peters, he allegedly got caught jerking-off
at his office at campaign headquarters?

That same Carl DeMaio?
