Trump accused of 'dipping into a deep well of anti-Semitic tropes' during speech to Jewish voters

Source: Washington Post

Numerous Jewish groups castigated President Trump this weekend over his speech on Saturday to the Israeli American Council, accusing him of using anti-Semitic tropes while trying to appeal to Jewish voters.

In a 45-minute speech in Hollywood, Fla., Trump sought to convince a Jewish audience that they had “no choice” but to vote for him or else lose money to Democratic presidential contenders’ wealth tax plans. The president, while touting his administration’s relationship with Israel, also said some Jews “don’t love Israel enough,” recalling the time in August that he questioned the loyalty of Jews who vote for Democrats.

The Jewish Democratic Council of America called the president’s remarks “deeply offensive” and his use of stereotypes “unconscionable,” saying that the Saturday night remarks “only reinforce our belief ... that Donald Trump is the biggest threat to American Jews.”

“We strongly denounce these vile and bigoted remarks in which the president — once again — used anti-Semitic stereotypes to characterize Jews as driven by money and insufficiently loyal to Israel,” the group’s executive director, Halie Soifer, said in a statement. “He even had the audacity to suggest that Jews ‘have no choice’ but to support him. American Jews do have a choice, and they’re not choosing President Trump or the Republican Party, which has been complicit in enacting his hateful agenda.”

I bet Bannon has someone coming up with a short list for him to practice on the campaign trail, which is how he rallies support from those organizations and their followers.

since he's loyal to Russia. Funny how that works. He claims liberal Jews aren't sufficiently loyal to Israel, since he's the judge of people's loyalty.

My whole life people have told me that nonwhites or children of immigrants are not loyal to the US. They claimed Obama was loyal to Kenya, not the US. They said LTC Vindman was loyal to Ukraine, not the US. Deplorables are still online telling black Americans to "go back" to Africa. But no one thinks white are loyal to European countries.
