..............................................
In an interview airing on Face the Nation Sunday, the Senate Judiciary Committee chairman said that Giuliani, who is serving as the presidents personal attorney, could appear before his committee separately from the impending Senate impeachment trial.
Rudy, if you want to come and tell us what you found, I'll be glad to talk to you, Graham said. We can look at what Rudy's got and Joe Biden, Hunter Biden and anything else you want to look at after impeachment. But if Rudy wants to come to the Judiciary Committee and testify about what he found, he's welcome to do so.
Giuliani traveled to Ukraine earlier this month to gather information intended to discredit the Houses impeachment probe, which focuses on Trump pressuring the Ukrainian president to investigate the Bidens. Giuliani was spotted at the White House on Friday.
Graham said he didnt know what material Giuliani had gathered. ...............................

The GOP doesn't care about the truth, they just want their version of reality to be validated by becoming part of the record.

(13,593 posts)trump was shaking down Zelensky to get him to announce a phony "investigation" on a CNN interview which would then be used in campaign stops, commercials, fox, etc. Unless he did so, no military aid (even though already approved by congress) and no visit to the white house.
trump got caught and released the aid to try and escape culpability, hence the impeachment.
What to do? Bring in Rudy to blather on about the same made-up thing, and use it in campaign stops, commercials, fox, etc.
(By the way, Zelensky still has no visit to the white house and, of course, not even a tweet of support before his meeting putin.)

Who ever heard of a jury being polled before the trial? The gop are telling us outright, they will NOT follow rules of law. They know something the rest of us do not, to be so outspoken.

(12,583 posts)And there's no way that can be erased from the history books.
The books will provide all the factual evidence presented to support the impeachment. Then it will give Moscow Mitch's pre-trial bragging that Trump would win, no matter what. The conclusion will be left for the reader to draw. If they prefer a monarchy, i.e., "The King can do no wrong," they'll see the Dems as the bad guys. If they believe in the rule of law, as many claim, there will be many questions about how such a corrupt individual could not only be selected for the highest office of the land, but how he could do whatever the f*ck he wanted and never be held accountable.

(12,583 posts)Against Dubya the Dems ran Al Gore, who chose to serve in Vietnam (albeit not in a combat position, he still went willingly), served as senator and vice president, and was an award winning producer of "An Inconvenient Truth."
Gore lost, because Bush was "someone you'd like to have a beer with."
Next time against Dubya, the Dems ran John Kerry, a real war hero and senator.
Kerry lost.
When Trump ran, we ran Hillary Clinton, whose intelligence, accomplishments and service to her country as senator and Secretary of State uniquely qualified her to lead both the country and free world.
Trump was a con man best known as a "reality" show performer with a signature catch phrase and his name on everything he could see.
He was also a Russian asset, either knowingly or unknowingly (more likely).
Trump ran because he tapped into the racist underbelly of American society (the people who never forgave O.J. for literally getting away with murder) and the misogynistic attitudes of a large percentage of men and some women, to whom "grab them by the pussy" was acceptable. He also won the evangelical voters, who were willing to overlook his three marriages and cheating on each of his wives because he promised to appoint only judges and justices who would overturn Roe v. Wade.
Hillary lost.
The GOP has no desire to provide the country with the best and brightest. They have no desire to serve the needs -- and now apparently the security -- of their country. They want one thing and one thing only -- power. Trump is the end product of that goal, writ large for all to see.
And so they are willing to literally bend reality, break their oaths to protect and defend the Constitution, and cheat in any way possible (voter suppression being the most obvious) to gain and retain power.
The GOP has zero interest in serving the average person of the United States.
I've lately been watching YouTube videos about Lior Suchard, a mentalist who, among other things, has the mind-boggling ability to influence people into doing what he wants them to, as shown here:
(begin at 3:45)
In this case he influences an entire audience to do the same drawing, each thinking they are using their "free will." "I don't know what you're thinking; I know how you're thinking," Suchard explains.
That's just one man working alone. Expand that to nearly unlimited resources and mind-influencing disinformation campaigns -- many initiated and managed by the Russians -- and I now see what we are truly up against. We can never give even an inch to the GOP. The Republican Party is no longer the opposition but the enemy.
The Repugs clearly see this as a war. No, not a war, because war has rules, which the U.S. strives to follow, whether the other side follows or not. (One part of these rules is delineated by the Uniform Code of Military Justice, which Trump just trashed.) They acknowledge no limitations or rules on their never ending quest for power.
To save our country -- and not just the party -- we need never give them an inch. We must fight at hard as they do, without the ruthlessness.

(13,582 posts)So much of Trumps BS is gaslighting - just like the fact it wasnt important for the Ukraine to actually investigate Biden, just get that story out in the M$M. This is literally the same shit. Its not important if Crazy Rudy found paydirt - only that the story circulates in the M$M.
This coming election will be the dirtiest, most disgusting and corrupt bit American history ever. Trump will see to that.

Among other statements he made was this gem "If Donald Trump is elected, it will be the death of the republican party, and we will deserve it" I am sincerely hoping that for once, Graham was correct. (6,181 posts)One: Graham said. We can look at what Rudy's got and Joe Biden, Hunter Biden and anything else you want to look at after impeachment.
Even Graham realizes that this is a political stunt that could backfire badly. If it happens before the impeachment Rudy could very well spill some unintentional stuff that would swing even the staunches RWers to vote to impeach. Giuliani is a loaded gun with a hair-trigger.
AND TWO: Testify under oath... right!
My guess is this will never happen. No one with half a brain would bring a loaded gun into a congressional hearing.

(493 posts)Impeaching Trump hit a record high of 54% in a Fox News poll that was released on Sunday. Fusion GPS Founders Lay Waste To GOP Lies About Steele Dossier
Glenn Simpson and Peter Fritsch have a message for the Republican liars out there: They know the truth and who is lying and they're not afraid to say so. For example, the Republican claim that Democrats paid for the Steele dossier, all of it. This is a lie.

(14,173 posts)I think we have to prepare ourselves for what's coming after the impeachment trial is over. And Trump is "exonerated" by the Senate. The Republicans know they will be skating on thin ice, with many Americans, in so simply dismising the case.
So Graham's statement about "after" is an indication of their plan post-impeachment. They will immediately hold sham hearings, to deflect, and derail any more talk of Trump's clear bribery and obstruction. Rudy will have the spotlight, and he will testify about NEW developments in the GROWING HUNTER BIDEN SCANDAL! New information proving it was Ukraine that interfered with the election. They'll probably even throw in some Clinton or Obama link in there. Unlike Democrats, they will drag out their hearings for maximum exposure. Months and months, longer than the impeachment process, until even the MSM will have long forgotten about the impeachment, as they have with Mueller's report now. The news cycles will be focused on on the latest gossip from Rudy's "very real" secret informants from Ukraine, and the MSM will be running; "Will these latest shocking revelations hurt Joe Biden and the Democrats?!"
Frankly I don't know how to stop it from happening either. By the time next November comes around, the GOP want the heads of, at the very least, all of their traditional voters to be so overloaded with these counter hearings that are designed to "prove" Trump innocent, or at least cloud the facts so much, as to give quarter for R voters to come back to the polls.
