Trump outed the whistleblower and the internet wants Twitter to ban his account: Truly deplorable
Published 11 hours ago on December 26, 2019
President Donald Trump was harshly criticized online after retweeting his 2020 campaign outing the identity of the White House whistleblower.
There were calls for it be a new article of impeachment and for Twitter to ban the commander-in-chiefs account.
Heres some of what people were saying:

I would love to see Trump banned from tweeting.

And @jack knows it. His shareholders know it.
Must protect the fortunes.
Welcome to DU.

Can you imagine how batsh*t crazy it would make him to be banned from Twitter?

(47,410 posts)and don't want to find out. I only have a Twitter account so I can see an occasional tweet. "Twattering" - great word!

(29,322 posts)There are great voices on Twitter & perspectives that you can't find on DU and often Twitter is a resource for DU when it comes to stories to post. Also you can say more what you want without getting a post deleted (I have had at least 3 successful appeals on hides). If a MAGA harasses you can block or mute the comments to the Tweet.

(47,410 posts)all the drama on Twitter. I can find plenty of great voices, perspective, and information without getting involved in the Twitter drama. I think for many it can be very addictive and I'm not sure it is terribly healthy. I do read occasional tweets that are posted here and on Facebook, but I rarely comment or retweet. I'm really trying to spend less time online, not more.

(29,322 posts)There is a reason why I rarely venture into GDP.
I mean on Twitter there I can find people that don't post at DU and especially on matters such as sexism, racism, xenophobia, etc. My Sig line quote comes from someone I follow from the UK in the context of American gun laws after the stabbing incident on London Bridge.
DU used to be like that when we had a lot more people but it seems like a lot of the brave and honest posters have been banned along with the well deserved.
PatSeg
(47,410 posts)In 2015-16, I rarely went to GDP. It really got ugly and mean spirited. I would come to DU for basic news and GD discussions. I do remember other primaries, 2004 and 2008, that got ridiculous and outrageous as well. Later I realized that many of the provocateurs were probably trolls. I was rather naive at the time. Older and hopefully wiser, I limit my visits to GDP and ignore the classic bait posts and comments.
I still have friends that I met on DU years ago and some left DU for good. Unfortunately, I have seen some get sucked into twitter drama just as bad, if not worse than the drama they tried to escape here. I think a lot depends on how you use DU, Twitter, Facebook, etc. We can and should make some conscious choices. If we're looking for fights, we're bound to find them anywhere and there are lots of people who are willing and able to push our buttons! I've learned the hard way, some have not.

(47,410 posts)I don't think that a few years ago, anyone could imagine anything like it, a Twitter presidency. You're right, Trump without Twitter would be voiceless. I can picture him going into total meltdown, possibly on camera.

Oh. There's one more reason: Trumpy brings in a LOT of money for Dorsey with all of his followers.
This kind of dynamic is the reason that capitalism, in order to keep from devolving into fascism, needs to be regulated. If you follow the logic of unregulated capitalism, you end up with fascism. And if you look around, you'll discover that we're nearly there.

The revelations were reported by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, which along with 95 media partners explored the leaked Paradise Papers files obtained by the German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung.

(13,574 posts)but if the case does not rely on evidence from them, their identity is not revealed to the defense. In a drug case where a confidential informant tips off the cops, they use another guy to make a buy or whatever. The whole case depends on that and what a search turns up. It makes no difference who the rat was.

(59,502 posts)Without his angry, senseless, grammatically strange, misspelled tweets, how much FIRST HAND proof of his inner self would we have? Some of his rants/rallies come close.
I know that both twitter and those rallies are from the stage persona that his base is attracted to, but they have to be constant reminders of how unfit he really is to people supporting him because of ideology.

(12,162 posts)You just outed a patriot and dedicated civil servant, you fucking scumbag, an individual I share a legacy with in holding the wall against your pigshit, motherfucking handlers in the old Soviet Union.
On the day of President Democrats inauguration, where the crowd will be 10 times your pitiful gathering of racists and fuckturds, an event you will not be invited to attend, you shitbag, you will instead be surrounded by 10,000 of my brothers from law enforcement, the military and other security services. The Marshals will be led to the residence escorted by the Secret Service, who will put a black bag over your blubbering, crying head, bound you and then carry you to a waiting van and unceremoniously tossed into the back. From there you will disappear into the justice system and made a rumor and asterisk for history.
And the next time we hear anything about you will be at your numerous trials where youll be gagged with a ball before the jury hands down a life sentence to you to be served at Florence, CO.
Go fuck yourself, you worthless, fucking oxygen thief.

(6,181 posts)Twitter could save the entire world from the loudmouth bully.
The twitter soapbox gives 45 the weapon to lie, threat, intimidate, belittle anyone he wants with impunity.
Without Twitter, most of 45's daily targets would be completely out of reach from his acts of hate and intimidation. He would be feckless without Twitter. He would be the tree falling in the woods with no one near enough to hear.
Again proving 45 is above the law or rules the rest of us are held accountable for.
If any one of their other account owners made similar tweets they would be band in the blink of an eye.

(34,065 posts)The original tweet outed the whistleblower (assuming it is correct). Retweeting it was deplorable, but so is most of what he does. Merely republishing someone else's published speculation isn't the same level of deplorable as publishing accurate information you acquired by virtue of a privileged position.
Maggiemayhem
(809 posts)I say let him tweet his way into more articles of impeachment. You cant shut him up He is a malignant narcissist. He Will find a way to vent somehow and place blame. You cant really change certain mindsets.
Ms. Toad
(34,065 posts)From the articles I found (one of which was published nearly a month ago). Since it hasn't been confirmed, I assume it is pure speculation. But my basic point is that retweeting is not outing - it's just passing along gossip.

Trump has the power to shut down the entire internet. There are whole companies who depend only on the internet for survival. So, while I, too, think the Orange Turd should be banned, I think we should suck it up.

(9,953 posts)... away his Twitter. People mention the whistle-blower name all the time... on Facebook, the posts are removed, so they have a robot scanning for the name. Do they have one on Twitter? I don't know... it's difficult to go back and see posts there... especially on Crooked Donald's feed. too much... I do see a lot of positive things on Twitter - but it is dominated by Crooked Donald. I don't follow him, but get notices of his due to "traffic" I guess. Facebook is better... I can share non-political holiday photos and look at many old pictures from classmates and relatives. I never see Crooked Donald there and can look at his page if/when I want to see something stupid he posted... and that's the way I like it (uh-huh, uh-huh)...
