Boris Johnson calls for 'Trump deal' to replace Iran nuclear pact

Source: Politico

LONDON — Boris Johnson called Tuesday for the current nuclear deal to prevent Iran acquiring nuclear weapons to be replaced with a "Trump deal."

In his first major television interview since becoming prime minister, Johnson warned the U.S. president that if he was to scrap the current nuclear deal with Iran he must find a "replacement."

Speaking to the BBC, Johnson acknowledged that from the U.S. perspective, the current deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), had "many, many faults" and said it would be a "great way forward" to replace it.

"President Trump is a great deal maker, by his own account and many others. Let's work together to replace the JCPOA and get the Trump deal instead. That is our opportunity," Johnson added.

And why should Iran agree to any deal with “I only win if you lose” Trump. Trump has made Iran’s economy worse, but as we’ve seen with North Korea, sanctions are unlikely to work. Kim Jong Un has been starving his people for years because of sanctions, and he’s still in power. What Johnson, the EU, and China should do is force Trump to go back to the original agreement with Iran and stop US sanctions. Iran as a friendlier country would be better than Iran angry at the US and willing to attack US targets—and able to continue developing nuclear weapons.

soon to be Brexited, isolated and weakened country and try to put a deal together himself. I’m certain he could get help from Vlad and Bolsonero to come up with brilliant ideas.

Such bull. I thought I was reading scribble from Trump himself.

Who among us wouldn't want to spend thousands of man-hours working out a new deal with a guy that damn near caused a total civil insurrection in your nation AND after you just did that not long ago with some guys that were playing nice, but the latest guy screwed that up?

Britain also is a signatory to the treaty which can be enforced. Boris is no Trump and his electorate doesn't have Trumpanzees. People voted him in because of Corbyn. When a new labour leader runs against him, Boris will be gone and any missteps like these can hurt him.
