US troops were injured in Iran missile attack despite Pentagon initially saying there were no casual

(CNN)Several US service members were injured during last week's Iranian missile attack on Al-Asad airbase in Iraq despite the Pentagon initially saying that no casualties had taken place.

"While no U.S. service members were killed in the Jan. 8 Iranian attack on Al Asad Air base, several were treated for concussion symptoms from the blast and are still being assessed," the US-led military coalition fighting ISIS in Iraq and Syria said in a statement Thursday.

"Out of an abundance of caution, service members were transported from Al Asad Air Base, Iraq to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany for follow-on screening. When deemed fit for duty, the service members are expected to return to Iraq following screening," the statement added.

A US military official told CNN that 11 service members had been injured in the attack, which was launched in retaliation for the US airstrikes that had killed Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani the previous week. Defense One was first to report on the injured service members. Following the attack the Pentagon said that no casualties had resulted from the 16 missiles fired by Iran.

2. Not enough detail.

I teach.

I have students who take a thumping in football or other sports. They come to class.

Next day they're out and the doc says they have a concussion.

Other times it's fairly immediate--but that's when an individual gets thumped. If it's part of a large group and something else demands attention, I don't know.

(Of more interest is that when Iran was told that they missed American soldiers the response was--after a brief time--that they aimed to avoid killing or injuring troops. It was a sign of their great virtue. Then it turns out they bombed a barracks in the middle of the night. Obviously they assumed that in the wee hours of the morning is the time you'd least expect soldiers to be in their barracks. I guess. Maybe? Or perhaps if they'd killed GIs, it would be a great victory; that they didn't must be a sign of their great mercy. "Me great! Me great!" How Trumpian.)

3. I don't believe them.

Causality reports may take a day, but not this long.

Once again, they lie!

5. Sort of like that lie from the Pentagon & VA about burn pits not causing cancer and other illnesses.

I have yet to find accurate numbers on the amount of death or injuries from that.

BTW, if you know anyone who wants to enlist, tell them not to! Because they're gonna be sent somewhere based on a lie, and if they are exposed to something toxic then it will be years before their exposure is recognized. By that time they will be dead.

6. Something is deeply wrong when the military seems to accede to the CiC's shifty uses and PR about

what's going on ("All is well" ) rather than convey just the facts, as it usually has. After misstating the existence of injuries, why then would the military play down troop injuries.

Something is turning wrong about the military leadership. First the Pentagon. Then this vague "US-led military coalition fighting ISIS in Iraq and Syria said." CNN confirms after Defense One produces the story.

What can be the benefit of possibly supporting the tweet spin, or even any political future of this president. How could this president possibly be an asset to the U.S. military.

Dems are so overworked right now, there can't be enough help from journalists. I hope other defense journalists can fill this out better, because something very wrong is trending in military's response to the way this president uses, but does not lead it.

13. The military should just stop lying. We're adults. We don't need it parceled out.
