2 dead in shooting incident at Texas A&M-Commerce residence hall

Two people were killed and another injured in a shooting at a residence hall at Texas A&M University-Commerce on Monday.

Students and staff members on campus were asked to shelter in place as a "precautionary measure" as university police investigate the shooting at Pride Rock Residence Hall, according to campus police.

Campus police said they found three victims who suffered gunshot wounds, two of whom were confirmed dead.

Another person was transported to a hospital, according to campus police. The third victim's condition is unclear.

2. Based on the wording that many sites are using,

there seems to be heavy suggestions that this was a murder-suicide.
Obviously, most sites are more interested in being first to report as opposed to reporting accuracy.

Two women were fatally shot and a toddler was wounded Monday at a Texas A&M University-Commerce residence hall. The child, who is about 2 years old, was hospitalized in stable condition, campus police Chief Bryan Vaughn confirmed at a news conference Monday afternoon.

Authorities declined to answer questions at the news conference, and they did not release the victims’ names or say whether the women were students. Police said they found the two women dead and the baby wounded after a student called them at 10:17 a.m.

Darius Myers, a freshman studying nursing at A&M-Commerce, said the feeling on campus Monday wasn’t new to him.

“It’s kind of like deja vu,” he said, recalling a similar gloomy feeling cast over the campus in October, when two people were fatally shot at a party celebrating the school’s homecoming week in nearby Greenville.

4. I wonder if it's a continuation of last October's shooting?

The October incident was at a party miles away from Commerce but the party-goers were somehow affiliated with TAMU-Commerce.

Now this one, 4 months later.
