Madison School Board to negotiate contract with union

The Madison School Board agreed Monday night to enter collective bargaining negotiations immediately with its employee unions.

The move was made possible by Dane County Circuit Judge Juan Colas' recent ruling that key parts of Gov. Scott Walker's collective bargaining law are unconstitutional. . . .

MTI executive director John Matthews said he doesn't expect Colas to issue a stay, but if he does, it means the new contract negotiations would have to be finished beforehand.

"I can't imagine he would grant a stay," Matthews said. "He has said to a logger, 'You can't cut down that redwood.' Why would he grant a stay and allow that logger to cut down that redwood until a final decision is made?"

This is big news in the fight for collective bargaining and the survival of public employee unions. It will make the Walker administration goons apoplectic. I don't know if Steve Nass (R) will be able to hear about this without going into a fit of rage...

She had had enough after this law was passed. After the recall failed she pulled the trigger and called it quits.
