Pete Buttigieg is reportedly dropping his presidential bid after a disappointing showing in South Carolina, ending a meteoric rise that saw the once-obscure former mayor of South Bend, Ind., beat out several bigger-name rivals in the race for the Democratic nomination.

3. He still went to the bridge ceremony/march

knowing he was suspending his campaign. That is a good person and one I respect a lot. Steyer did that too.

4. I just saw this on The Guardian also.

He really is an amazing candidate and would have made a great president. As much as I hate to see him go, I respect him for not prolonging the process when it is obvious he cannot win. I think this is a case of putting country before self.

6. Locking

Only final announcements of a candidate dropping out may be posted in LBN; no reply to a PMd update request. Locking this will allow another DUer to post the news.
