DeSantis will turn safer-at-home advice into an order, but only for Southeast Florida

Source: Miami Herald

At a press conference at the drive-thru testing site at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens Monday, DeSantis announced he would be signing an executive order urging those in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe Counties to stay home through “mid-May.”

“This codifies a set of rules regarding ‘Safer at Home’ in Southeast Florida,” he said. “It gets all four counties operating on the same sheet of music.”

The “Safer At Home” language comes from Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez’s order last week for residents to leave home only for essential work or to pick up food and medication.

Further details of the executive order were not immediately made available to the press.

Quarantining Democratic areas is fine since there are more people there. But it's too late. The virus has spread through the whole state already into the rural areas in central and north Florida. There are cases reported all over.

If the nutters upstate have no brains or common sense, that’s on them. Sadly it will put the show back for months. When my husband was alive he always hated to cross over the Jewfish Creek bridge up to the mainland, or the meanland as we call it here. We even blow the bridge in effigy every year during Conch Republic Days. Maybe it’s time to do that for real this year, LOL.

DeSantis' ability to evaluate the mathematical consequences of a pandemic seem to be limited to the number of digits on his hands and (perhaps but not certain) toes.

DeSantis is worse. I live in a very red county in Central Florida, and they're about to find out that this virus is an equal opportunity killer.
