Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis issues statewide stay-at-home order

TALLAHASSEE — Facing mounting pressure, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Wednesday that he’s issuing a statewide stay-at-home order that will take effect Thursday at midnight.

He said the order attempts to limit movements outside the home by applying to all Floridians unless they are providing essential services or performing essential activities.

“There are some businesses that are non-essential, which won’t be able to have people congregate inside,” DeSantis said. “But they will be able to deliver.”

The order goes into effect on Friday just after midnight and expires on April 30. . .

9. Once Florida converted the orange groves and truck farms

to miles and miles of cinderblock subdivisions, they really didn't have anything left to sell but tourism. Oh, there's still a little of that in central Florida and part of the Panhandle, but it's a shadow of what it once was. There's even some cattle growing still going on there, again very little.

It's probably just as well, agriculture was depleting the groundwater so rapidly that Sinkhole Alley would have sunk completely by now.
