Coronavirus Tax Relief

Source: irs.gov

Tax Deadline Changed

The deadlines to FILE and PAY federal income taxes are extended to July 15, 2020.

The IRS has established a special section focused on steps to help taxpayers, businesses and others affected by the coronavirus. This page will be updated as new information is available. For other information about the COVID-19 virus, people should visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (https://www.coronavirus.gov) for health information. Other information about actions being taken by the U.S. government is available at https://www.usa.gov/coronavirus and in Spanish at https://gobierno.usa.gov/coronavirus. The Department of Treasury also has information available at Coronavirus: Resources, Updates, and What You Should Know.
Economic Impact Payments: What you need to know

The distribution of economic impact payments will begin in the next three weeks and will be distributed automatically, with no action required for most people. Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file to receive a payment. Instead, payments will be automatically deposited into their bank accounts. However, some people who typically do not file returns will need to submit a simple tax return to receive the economic impact payment. When more specific details become available, we will update this page.

Do you know who does taxes for free? H&R Block is closed I think (and they are really expensive) and last year I did my own and fucked up since their forms had changed. I spent 13 hours on them too (yes, I kept track). I am on a limited income, am tech retarded and heard AARP will do them for FREE but I am not sure about that am am not a member.

and find the link for free filing. there will be several options, should be an easy step by step process. I have used that link to go to turbotax for at least the past 10 years. they handle my rather complex tax for FREE. I have been happy with their system.

5. Turbo Tax Free ed.

I filed for two via Turbo Tax Free ed.

Go go along with the whole thing until the end.

STOP.

Do not submit it via efile.

If you do it takes you to file for the state, etc. etc.

Easiest thing to do is this:

Print it out, sign and date it (either single or joint) and mail it to your IRS. Keep a copy of the signed form for yourself as proof that you filed.

Google your location to find out where to mail it to as far as the IRS goes.

If you file and are on SS you'll get the $1200.00 or $2400.00 this way!

Follow the steps above if you think you can avoid the irs.gov situation.

It worked for me.
