Biden and Trump speak by phone about coronavirus response

Source: CNN

(CNN)Former Vice President Joe Biden and President Donald Trump spoke by phone on Monday about the response to the coronavirus pandemic, two sources familiar with the call and a White House official tell CNN.

The phone call is a rare moment of direct communication between the two political rivals. Trump has harshly criticized Biden for months, and his efforts to pressure Ukraine into opening an investigation into Biden and his son, Hunter Biden, was the catalyst for launching impeachment proceedings against the President.

Biden has criticized Trump's handling of the coronavirus pandemic, saying the administration was too slow to address the crisis. He has also said that Trump should stop talking and listen to experts.

"Vice President Biden and President Trump had a good call. VP Biden shared several suggestions for actions the Administration can take now to address the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and expressed his appreciation for the spirit of the American people in meeting the challenges facing the nation," Biden deputy campaign manager Kate Bedingfield said in a statement.

That is, until they're alone again and have the spotlight. I'm sure Biden was the grown-up on the call.

Both sides are making nice right now. But that shouldn't be construed as both sides having equal human decency. One side fakes it.

Every single thing about this killer pandemic is unprecedented, so whatever our side's leaders do, within the context of this pandemic -- from governors who "go along to get along" to candidates who make nice calls -- I'd only consider prudence, and due diligence, in dealing with an otherwise life threatening dicktater.

Just my opinion.

I saw nearly all of the press conference except and do not remember that.

Edit: The one you heard was before the press conference. Trump started by saying the phone call was a few minutes ago.

Since Trump started the press conference by saying he spoke with Biden a few minutes ago, you may have heard Trump speak before the call.

our governors and front runner are being so polite. Talk about arrogant vanity.

As Democratic leaders have told Americans, they're doing what they've got to do to deal with the mishandling of this pandemic, and nothing else.

In terms of things Trump shouldn't do.

Trump refuses to take advice otherwise he can't pretend to be an expert.

He sees every communication with Democrats as ammunition gathering.

During and after the conventions he'll even publicly mock their human decency as a lie, a joke, another fake given fake news coverage.

If things get better, and what Joe said got implemented he can refute the "I alone saved us" nonsense.
If they ignore the advice and 100k people die, there is the "I offered help, but you ignored me." leverage.
