Coronavirus: Boris Johnson 'improving' as intensive care treatment continues

Source: BBC

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is "improving" after two nights in intensive care with coronavirus, Chancellor Rishi Sunak has said.

The chancellor said Mr Johnson was now "sitting up in bed and engaging positively with the clinical team".

The PM was taken to St Thomas' Hospital in London on Sunday - 10 days after testing positive for the virus - and then moved to intensive care on Monday.

It comes as a record 938 daily deaths were reported in UK hospitals.

1. Now would be a good time for Trump to pay him a visit.

He'd probably say something like, "Wrong? Well, we can't be right all the time, can we? Nobody's perfect. You mustn't reproach yourself, Boris. We've been no worse than the next man, or no better if it comes to that."

"Save myself? Save myself from what?"

3. Wouldn't that be considered animal cruelty to inflict Trump upon the poor penguins in the Antarctic?

Probably unlikely - leopards don't change their spots - but that would be the best-case scenario.

And incredibly thick, though educated in the formal sense. Didn't know the importance of the Dover-Calais route for trade. Confused Peru with the Philippines. And this is the Foreign Secretary!

Remember how even political opponents of Bush the First ardently wished for his good health, because next in line was Dan Quayle? I suppose we're having our Dan Quayle moment right now.

Argh!

9. This follows the covid pattern. Patients in icu often rally before succumbing.

Statistically, a covid patient in icu has a 50% chance of survival. A patient on a ventilator has a 25% survival rate. I hope Boris and everyone survives, but boris' odds are not good (if what we're being told us the truth).

I don’t wish harm to almost anyone, nor to BJ.

May it bring him more compassion.

That he lasted as long as he did was surprising.
