Linda McMahon (R) Proposed Social Security "Sunset" At Tea Party Forum

Source: Huffington Post

NEW YORK -- In little-noticed remarks at a Tea Party town hall meeting earlier this year, Republican Connecticut Senate candidate Linda McMahon proposed introducing a "sunset provision" into the Social Security Act.

McMahon, the former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, has consistently dodged questions about cutting government entitlement programs in her two Senate runs.

Speaking before a group of Tea Party supporters in Waterford, Conn. on April 20, however, McMahon said she would consider making major changes to Social Security, from raising the retirement age to means-testing benefits. She also proposed introducing a "sunset provision" -- the legislative term for putting an expiration date on a law unless it is renewed.

It's unclear what McMahon meant when she spoke about a "sunset provision" for Social Security, and her campaign did not directly address the word in a statement. McMahon's spokesman defended the candidate's record on entitlement programs and attacked her opponent, Chris Murphy.

This is just a reminder that its not just Romney and Ryan who are trying to abolish Medicare and Social Security, then distancing themselves from comments made to their base. Here is Connecticut Republican candidate Linda McMahon.

Why bother with Social Security when you are so careless with the health of your employees that half of them don't even make it to their mid-60s (and you've burned all the bridges with the ones that do, so screw them).

Randians running at the top of the GOP ticket for the highest office in the USA. There is backing for what she says, which is what the Paulbots wanted. Libertarians of all parties want Social Security gone. If you can't pay for all necessities, please hurry up and die.

She is saying what some of both sides of the political aisle want, because they want Obama, the Democrats and the government to fail. They fantasize it will create a revolution from the left to save the planet. But they just will loose more Teahadist hell than staying home in 2010 did.

They need to be encouraged to share the view. They need to embrace it and talk about it openly. LET'S END A GOVERNMENT PROGRAM NOT PAID FOR BY THE GOVERNMENT AND COSTS THE GOVERNMENT NOTHING SO SENIORS CAN LIVE IN CARDBOARD BOXES AND EAT CAT FOOD.

EMBRACE IT REPUBLICANS. TELL AMERICANS HOW YOU REALLY FUCKING FEEL.

I've noticed lately that the Dems have been using that tactic.

Instead of trying to squelch Republicans from reaching out, we simply amplify their voices when they say something that hurts the majority of Americans. Republicans have had it both ways for too long, talking from either side of their mouths depending on who's listening.

With the Teabaggers forcing candidates to announce unpopular positions there have been plenty of opportunities to do so.

it makes the would be voterfor sit up and say "HUH????" It's not like all of us don't have a friend, relative
aquaintance that hasn't retired or somehow been able to use the program of Social Security which in my
opinion is the most successful program ever created by the government.

Keep the megaphone going.
