Las Vegas mayor: Reopen casinos, let the ones with the most infections then close

Source: WaPo

Standing in front of an empty storefront along Main Street, Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman was beaming with optimism, believing that businesses would make it through the coronavirus pandemic.

“We’re all together in this and we are going to come out with a bang,” she said earlier this month.

On Tuesday, it became apparent what the independent mayor may have had in mind. She said she wants to reopen casinos, assuming that 100 percent of the population are carriers of the novel coronavirus.

Let them, and visitors, gather and gamble, smoke in confined spaces, touch slot machines all day — and let the chips, and apparently the infections, fall where they may.

“Assume everybody is a carrier," the mayor said Tuesday on MSNBC. "And then you start from an even slate. And tell the people what to do. And let the businesses open and competition will destroy that business if, in fact, they become evident that they have disease, they’re closed down. It’s that simple.”

Tea Bagger and a Ankle Bitter. Just the Mayor of Vegas, the Strip is Governed by the Clark County Board and the Board Chairman is a hard core Dem.

Goodman is pissed because the Convention and Visitor's Bureau canceled her Hubby's public relations 85k/yr contract a few weeks ago.

The Strip will be the last place to open. Noticed yesterday a E-Mail Blast from Boyd Gaming and Red Rock Resorts promoting a new game for visitors,so something is up.

2. They will be branded on the hand to show that they have been in a casino, so they can't go into any other business for 1 month following their last visit to a casino.
3. On their first visit to a casino they will receive $10 for each hour they stay. On the next visit, $20. And so on. You are put on the sports board. People bet on which day you die. Odds change depending on how many hours you have spent in a casino.

Let them spend a day in each casino to see personally which is safe. These asses want others to die for their profits, they aren't going out themselves in public because they know it's dangerous. They just don't give a shit if we die is the real issue for some and for others the lethality is the feature, not the bug. In either case, they are murderers.

As if that works except in the world of make-believe, where consumers are omniscient and can thereby determine the “guilty parties” with extremely limited information beyond the transactions.

The whole idea is very irresponsible, of course.

The actual power lies with the Clark Country Commissioners office. She can whine and cry all she wants but she’s a glorified cheerleader for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

The CEO of Diamond Resorts blew up on her on live TV, so don’t think everyone’s behind her.
