Hundreds gather at [Mass.] State House to protest measures to slow spread of coronavirus
Source: Boston Globe
Hundreds of people gathered outside of the Massachusetts State House on Monday calling for the end to restrictions designed to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
Around 1 p.m., the gathering, promoted by the right-wing provocateurs behind last Septembers controversial Straight Pride Parade and conservative local radio host Jeffrey Kuhner, took over part of Beacon Street. Demonstrators brandished American flags and Trump 2020 signs, along with signs that read end the shutdown, all jobs are essential, and media is the virus.
Officials and public health experts repeatedly have cautioned that lifting the order that closed nonessential businesses and prematurely abandoning social distancing guidelines would inevitably lead to a spike in new coronavirus infections and deaths.

You may be familiar with Kuhner from his time as editor of the old Insight online magazine owned by the same cult that owns The Washington Times. Back in 2007, Insight had "a quickly discredited...article...asserting that the presidential campaign of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton was preparing an accusation that her rival, Senator Barack Obama, had covered up a brief period he had spent in an Islamic religious school in Indonesia when he was 6."

(38,410 posts)Our idiots do not reach that level ..The idiots at the rally belong to another association which we have nothing to do with..
...Their association, "Stupid and Dumb Fools of America" is far too stupid and disrespectful for our standards.. We have certain standards for "stupidity" and these people do not reach them. There is a time and place for actions, and these behaviors do not stand with our values. Clearly these fools....belong in
..Stupid and Dumb Fools of America!
..We have nothing more to say about these dumb fools

(32,004 posts)considering that their opinions are shared by less than a quarter of the general public: "Just 15 percent of voters said social distancing measures should be lifted even if it means further spreading the virus." However, people have the right to know what's going on inside (and near) their state capitols, so any sizable protest at government centers should have properly explained news coverage.

(7,471 posts)Since I am a senior, I have doubled my precautions. Not just for myself but for others. To hear about those who want all the precautions lifted, I wish them luck but they must remember that they are vulnerable. A cough from someone near can send them to the grave.
Governor Baker is a Republican. I am not. I praise his work for all of us. I hope he keeps up the good work.
I am also pleased that Massachusetts has joined the Northeast states in an effort to buy protective gear in bulk as a unit instead of trying to bid against the big guys, including the government who are outbidding the smaller purchaser.
Baker is a good man, I hope he keeps up the good work. It is not always about the party, it is about the people. Wish Uncle Sam(you know who) would keep this in mind.

(3,818 posts)There is no way this is being done organically. Putin? Kock Bros? ALEC? Which billionaire is financially covering all this? Would you go out to die without your bills being paid and family taken care of for a couple of decades, quadruple your most recent rate of pay? That would be the absolute least that I would ask for.
Even Democratic Gov's are "listening" to these dead people walking. Why? When they are interviewed, they really show how completely out of touch with humanity they really are. Stupid, ignorant, dumb ass doesn't really begin to cover this.
What are we (I) missing here? Did we get in a war that I didn't hear about?
Who wants to be quarantined over the summer? Kids and spouses are already paying the price of being locked in.
There is a reason they are considered the "forgotten people." They bring absolutely to table, lacking even the most basic of table manners.
I am absolutely dumbfounded by all this.
Part of the reason - Calvinism that has completely take over governments (fed, state) (one tenant being - that you HAVE to work unless you make over a certain dollar amount; over that, you get sit back and collect the rent). I, for my part, am not churchian and I am deeply angered at being forced into being one.
The treasuries are a wholly owned property of the Putin Party and our worth is solely based on how much output we can give our overlords No, you cannot be one - you aren't on the list.
Are y'all seeing something different?

(17,876 posts)It's handfuls of yokels. The vast majority up here support what our state governments are doing. It's extremely painful, but it's a sure site better than fucking dead. Being this close to NYC and Boston tends to raise the threat level in most people's minds.
This needs to be reported as just that. A handful of yokels with barely one functioning human brain between them.
